Dyno slips are like a painted undercarriage...just for show but ultimately worthless
These Dyno days are very good events and helpful to many members !
Some people want the dyno slips to see what their car is capable of but don't want to risk breaking anything on the track or don't want to blow through a set of tires at the track because of the expense. There are a lot of good reasons to participate in the dyno meets if you want to see what adjustments are having what impact on your car before you track it also. How a cai or a tune effected things, ect.
Oh and as far your comments about painting an undercarriage, which doesn't really belong in this thread anyways, well, it cuts down on wind drag and creates better gas mileage, allowed better early detection of liquid leaks and exhaust leaks already, created a more quiet ride on the interior, adds additional rust protection if you intend to keep the car for many years, increases value of the resale due to less rust intrusion down the road, adds to the esthetic appearance of the automobile,
It's no different then spending money on stereo equipment or upgrades on leather, they all have benefits if you look at the ultimate purpose.
I would never be so bold to tell a member that something he or she did to their car was worthless, it's obviously not worthless to them if they did it, it had some benefit they recognized. Kind of like spending hundreds of dollars racing around a track for several days, it's all about enjoying what you have in the auto you purchased.

I disagree. Perfect example is last year one of the guys that went to the Speed Inc. dyno day found out his previous tuner did a crap job on his freshly tuned engine. Speed showed him that he was running extremely lean, and they didn't want to continue to dyno his car. He was pretty upset, but ultimately saved his engine from damage. He wound up having it corrected at Modern Muscle and then went back to the original tuner to bitch. So using a dyno for those reasons is why they aren't worthless.
I like them for knowing when I add mods that they actually benefited me. It's not so much the actual number, but the change that is relevant. There is so much hype on products and how they perform that the only way you know for sure is to do before and after tests. Butt dynos don't do it for me.

But as bragging rights, yeah they are useless.
I should have been more clear I was referring to the dyno slips being used as bragging rights as worthless. I agree they do serve a purpose and I remember that incident as I was also at that meet last year.

I never said anything negative about participating in a dyno meet. Like bannonm and even you said pointed out some very good reasons to get a car on the dyno. Bragging rights just isn't one of those reasons.

Honestly, I will just leave this one alone...

I completely agree. I have spent thousands of dollars on purely aesthetic parts that won't help performance. The difference being I know they don't help performance and don't try to make it out that they do...
The only reason I'm not attending this meet is because its on Saturday morning and I work mornings.
My whole purpose is to see if the money I'm spending on mods is worth it or not. Sure I'd rather be haulin my happy ass down the track or around the track but it's nice to know what to expect . Kudos to Bill on his response. Don't know if I could have held back like he did.
Man that really sucks...........but that's the coolest thing I've ever seen
