  • My 2011 camaro got hit, now I need options.

Ok, so on St. patricks day me and a few buddies went out to the club and came out of there, only to see my camaro destroyed. I parked it on the side streets and a drunk taxi driver hit my back and front passenger side. the bumber got pulled forward and cracked in half and the back has a dent. the door was fine, but the front right fender got destroyed. the police had got there before i got outside and wrote me a small report that they left on mt windshield. I got the car towed to a local chevy dealer, and they recommended me to take it to one of their body shops. My dad and I took it to them so the insurance can take a look at it. the next day we went back and they gave us an estimate of $2,960. the body shop guy was cool and gave us a heads up. He showed us the insurance had all aftermarket front bumber parts and the rest could be repaired. So now my dad is planning to call insurance to get all oem parts. Now I don't know if I should go with a cool looking after market front bumper and pay any difference and get the rest of the body kit installed or just get it all fixed back to original form. What should I do C5G? any advice or recommendations will be considered. Thank you.

Don't parallel park. Ever. It's damage waiting to happen. I've seen it and experienced it first hand. You're way too exposed and most other drivers don't care about their own car, let alone yours.

I have found that you can request only OEM parts and not pay more. Usually, OEM parts are not that much more anyway. Personally, I would not accept non-OEM parts.

That wasn't your question, so, to answer your question, if you have the extra cash and changing the front end is your desire, certainly, now is the time. If it was me, I would probably keep the same front end, but go with a different grill or something minor. Again, it's your car, go for it if you want to make a major change.

I agree with Freddie in the sense that its all up to your taste.

I will toss my opion, i have been hoping for someone to back into my front bumper so i could get an ZL1 front end. haha

But always be prepared to pay more if you go to something else other than OEM as fitment always plays a factor. The bumper might cost the same but getting it to line and fit properly might take longer which will increase the price as well.

The reason i want to get oem parts is because the insurance claim would give me more money. Also, now really is the time to change my front end, and pimp my ride lol, i just can't decide on what to get. I have an ls camaro, so i don't have fog lights, this would be the time to get them i just don't know what i can get with this price range. I can add like another $500. led lights would be nice for the bottom, also, halo lights by oracle, stripe package, grill, rear diffuser, spoiler, side skirts. I'm into pretty much any custome camaro, so i'm not picky haha. thx for advice.

Shortly before I sold my SS, I watched a couple in an SUV back right in to my car and push it back in to the gear lock. When I called him out on it first he claimed to not have touched it, then admitted to it then apologized..... The the hippy chick in the passenger seat yelled to me "That's what you get for driving a nice car in the city"..

This is after I got rear ended by a chick with no license and no insurance (that lied on the scene) and provided a ticket showing no license from a wreck she caused 3-4 days earlier.

Took me over a year to get my deductible back and Pete got more work.

So, hence my advice to you to not park it like that.

Outside of a few external mods to my SS, I never did much else in the realm of external stuff. I did more on the track/perf side, so I don't know much about what would or wouldn't be good for you and I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction.

I had the MPD-1 wing, heritage grille, bezels all IOM color matched, extended and changed my stripe color to CGM and had all the chrome bezels color coded -- by way of a major external upgrade/swap from HO73 before he sold his car. He had all the exact mods I wanted and in the same color and he needed OE pieces. So, it was a no-brainer swap out. But, other than that, my other stuff wouldn't really be applicable to your car.

There are plenty on here more knowledgeable than I in the cosmetic side that will help steer you in the right direction.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to talk with Pete (Showstopper) about your options. Get in line though...
