Trunk deck lid shock rod removal

Can anyone tell me how to detach the truck deck lid shocks at the deck lid connection?

It's a ball and socket fitting and the ball is threaded on to the shaft. If you don't thread it back far enough you won't be able to get the ball back on the socket so mark where it was before you unscrew it. The ball snaps on the socket
