  • Wheel Cleaner

Hey guys. What is everyone using on their wheels? I'm looking for something that is best for cleaning black stock SS/RS wheels.

This is a good question. I always just used soap when washing the car as I have heard wheel cleaners can be harsh on certain paints or coatings.

sent from my galaxy s3. that would explain the errors.

Yep. Soap and water, and maybe a bit of all purpose cleaner if needed for other or heavy contaminants. Remember, the OE wheels have a clear coat, similar to the rest of the paint on the car

I need to clean my wheels tonight, the brake dust is getting out of control. Until I can replace the pads with hawks, I will just use soap and water and a sponge.

What about getting a good shine on the tires, any recommendations?

I hear that Armour All Wheel Protectant is really great at repelling brake dust.

I'm using Black Magic tire gel. It seems to last and hold a shine even after a second wash a few days later.

I use Adams Green Wheel cleaner. Works like a champ and is not an acid so it does not hurt the clear coat on the wheels.

I use soap and water on my wheels, I use Adams VRT on my tires and trim. VRT does not spray up the side of the car when you drive like some products. It also does not attract dust.

Sonax. A lot of the pro-detailers on the west coast use it... Both ninja and I (when I clean or have my car cleaned ) use it.

Regular soap and water is best and the idea is to keep them clean every week so you don't have to use anything more harsh then that. Meguires cleaner wax will clean the dirt out of that clear coat pretty good.
