I'm working through my tire situation and was contemplating what to do next spring. Also thinking of changing out my rims. Right now, I don't really want to take an extra set of tires and rims to the track along with the equipment to jack the car up and make the change. I'm not that hard core. I was thinking 20" DR's on a spare set of rims to put on the car and drive to the track, but guess I can do that with 18" as well. Need to think about it some more. Good information guys. It does help to hear from experienced racers.

PSJ - I didn't know about the guy on Camaro5, I'll have to check that out. I don't spend as much time over there as I used to.

If you are just going to run drag radials on track days, you can just as easily get 18" and tie back the e-brake cable.

If you wanted to drive all summer on drag radials, only certain brands I think will last.

I have driven all season on Nitto 555Rs and now NT05Rs.

I'm probably going to replace my Goodyears next spring and get a set of 18's and DR's for the track if I plan to spend much time there.

I've read that the Nitto 555Rs DR will last about 15K miles under "normal" driving conditions. Since I only put about 3-4K miles on my car a year I think I am going with them and keep them on all the time.

PSJ, I have ZL1 rims with the stock Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. I'm probably going with the Michelin's next spring.

I can't compare 20 DRs to 18 DRs, but demon ran 12.7 best on stock wheels and tires and 12.3 on 18 DRs and a CAI. Both in 90+ temps. There's more there, but gotta get that outta the driver!
