You should get there syck, might find some value in a 2 step if they make one for our cars, I'm thinking LPE makes one. You can use it for RPM consistency. I think you'll get that 10.99 within 10 good tries.

My goal is to grab the #2 spot for L99 stock internal on Cam5, I don't recall offhand but I think an 11.90 gets it done. Some guy has an 11.7 on there but I see gears listed and I'm guessing he had weight reduction. That will take longer. I'm still not sure what I want to shoot for by the end of 2013, either a 10.9 stock cam + power adder, or stock cam/ stock internal 11.5's. I could get either done.

Thanks john, i have completely overlooked a 2 step. I will look em up. If i hit that 10.99 i will be the 6th fastest M6. Every one else is an automatic. So that will be good. If i get a 10.90 or better that would make me the 4th fastest.

And you can get that time. Just checked and you have to get a 11.964 or less to take the number 2 spot for the L99. Your car has it in her. And both the number 1 and 2 spot had gear swaps. So even if you hit a 11.99 with stock gears, is extremely impressive.

I'm confident I can run better than 11.99 with stock gears as I sit, I did a converter swap (and a few other things) that we'll write up for Camaro Now as a follow up to Mods for the Masses.

that would be awesome, and it is so cool you keep getting articles in that magazine. Always thought that would be like the peak of the auto scene. Having your car features in something like that. Very cool.

Its amazing what a converter alone does to these cars. That alone would knock you into the 11's i think. i think people just get fustrated and take the route others due, so it will be pretty cool seeing you do it with the stock gear.

I've been doing some on/off freelance for GMHTP for a few years and Camaro Now is a sister publication. So I'm writing the articles FWIW.

I don't really see it being a problem going 11's with just adding a converter to 12.37 combo. Personally I'm wanting to see how far I can take stock internal with weight reduction and maybe some gear.

well i will be glued to that story!

How much weight reduction you thinking? all out stripped or still streetable?

I have been thinking about doing a rear seat delete and putting just a flat bored like some used to with the F-bodies. Thats at least 60-80lbs.

I don't think it weighs that much.

According to what has been said on C5, top part of seat, bottom part, and all seat belt brackets are close to 80lbs. I have the article somewhere on my computer at home. Ill pull it up.

I meant to say front seat and rear seat with brackets. My appologizes, cut it short typing at work.

For the back seat the bottom seat weighs 11 pounds and the back is 18. Mine's still out after the air bag reinstall and waiting on a custom harness/roll bar. The only downside to removing the seat is the noise level increases dramatically. The bottom seat pan is like a steel drum, no insulation and transmits noise. I was thinking about sound deadening material but then you start adding weight back in. I haven't yanked the seat/belt rail but I estimate 10 pounds at best. The seat belts weight about 3 pounds. So not quite the 60. Once I get my car back from Pete's next week I will pull the rail and weigh it.

But yeah I like the idea of the seat delete since I don't use it anyway. I'll probably try and use a lightweight piece of luan? (underlayment) and cover it with black carpet. Not like anyone will be sitting on it.

How'd the new air bag install go? And yeah in my second post I meant to say front and back seat but typed to fast so I didn't get caught at work.

But I think in the spring time I will attempt some sort of delete and update on here. Just something simple as I barely use my seats either.

Air bag install went very well. God forbid it happens to anyone else, but if it does fix it yourself. The hardest part is getting the headliner out, and once I figured out the trick it was in and out in 5 minutes. Postings on C5 for pulling the liner left out some key facts and one guy that did it listed the wrong seat to pull out. At least with the manual trans car in my case.

I'll have something on the seat delete in a month or so. I'll post on what I used and how to reduce noise. I have some light weight ideas. My next projects are the belly pan now that I have the right hood, and the harness bar. I have my template for the belly pan and need to cut the first prototype and fit it. Then I'll cut it from aluminum. The ZL1 belly pan just doesn't work on the SS without the ZL1 facia.

                          that's good.

I will be looking out for what you come up. This has got to be good. Congrats on the Hood!

I won't be deleting the back seat as my car is the backup for the SUV and transporting our boys. But I have other weight reduction in mind.

Grats on doing the airbags yourself, that's cool.

Ahhh yes, very good point in your case. I still want to hit the 10.99 with full weight. If I achieve that then we will see how low I can go by small things like tweaking the tune or weight reduction here and there. Is it March yet?

Looks like MSD makes a 2 step, used one here: M&H drag radials and rims, DSS axles, MSD 2 step Launch controller - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums - Camaro5.com

Know what would be awesome is if this weather held for a while, I'm sure at least US41/NLR would open next weekend.
