  • GLD Today

Went to GLD today. Great weather for a few runs. I had my best runs ever knocking off .4 seconds and adding 2 mph. Best run was 12.357 at 111.75 mph and a couple of 1.83 60 foot times.

Sorry that SYCK SS could not make it. He would have done well.

    Thanks GLD!

I tried to catch Jim, but was a little short.

Man oh man I love drag racing. I wish I could go every week.

Went to GLD today, ran a new best. I doubt I'll be able to get out again unless we have warmish weather for a few more weeks. Was trying some stuff that didn't work, ran into an old buddy and he gave me some ideas that worked:

          In order:

          12.55@110.18, 1.89
          12.43@111.77, 1.87
          12.55@110.51, 1.88
          12.43@111.82, 1.87
          12.47@110.05, 1.88
          12.37@112.47, 1.85 <---New best!
          12.47@111.49, 1.88
          12.40@111.30, 1.86

          I'm happy.

Well, the low mphs, the 110's, basically me not really thinking what was going on. I hotlapped the 12.5/12.43 passes (twice), and I was like WTF the car is faster on the second pass??? My buddy the Ford guy pointed out that my car was too cold on those two 12.5 passes, so the car was most likely too rich.

I'm curious as to whether Jim's rims weigh more or less than stock.

Wish I could redo today, I would have wasted less time.

i can say that the american racing wheels do weight a few lbs less each, but i am not sure of the other set he has.

That is such a valid point, we are always focused on cooling it down we forget about the difference from open and close loop. Well at least from an N/A stand point.

Looks like that if you woulda matched Jim's 60ft you might have gotten him.

overall a good set of runs. Congrats again on the 12.3

Have fun tomorrow. Supposed to be a bit warmer so more cars might come out. Track wasn't super great today the faster heads up cars struggled to get off the line.

Yeah, I'm hoping the fact that there are bears/pacckers game that it'll be not as crowded.

This will probably be my last trip out so I am going to be a little more aggressive with the burnouts. I'm really hoping my newly found IAT at least help net me a little higher MPH. Ill keep you posted.

so i figured i would update similar to the way PSJ did. so here is how my day went.

and i also want to doubling up on what he said on how much i love drag racing. Sadly enough i will be done this year as my final turnout was not the best. But all in all i was happy with the results today. So here are my runs in order...

                          11.416 @ 125.87 - 1.921
                          11.416 @ 126.61 - 1.941
                          11.239 @ 127.40 - 1.879 <-- new personal best
                          11.504 @ 127.71 - 1.960
                          11.506 @ 127.04 - 1.976

So the only difference this time out was my meth/water injection. It was able to keep my IAT well under 115 degrees for the majority of the day. I even tried hot lapping it on 2 runs ( the 11.5xx passes) and the highest IAT i saw was 130 degrees. This is such a HUGE improvement over what i was facing before. so i am a believer.

and of course the saddest part was my final run...

I was letting the car cool down just a little after my hot laps, and finally went up for what was going to be my final run. I was going to do a little bit longer of a burnout and really get my tires sticky and try for a harder launch to bring my 60ft time down. As i started my burnout my drivers side wheel did NOT spin, causing my car to stall and my check engine light to turn on. I used my logger real quick to turn off the check engine light (which was a code saying "vehicle speed sensor side A not responding"). Did a burnout with not problem and pulled up to launch. Brought the revs up and gradually let out the clutch, rolled about 15-20 feet and heard a loud BOOM from the rear.

i immediately pulled off to the side to avoid leaking anything. To my surprise i was able to put the car in gear and drive. I started backing up with no problem. But as soon as i started to turn it was evident that i broke something as my rear end started popping.

We are guessing that it is the posi unit but we will have it all apart tomorrow to verify.

just wanted to say congrats again to TONYNO for taking the top spot on the v6 fast list, and wanted to let everyone know that my wife also pulled her best time in her jeep srt8 with a 13.12 @ 101 mph. so overall it was a good day.

                            Great stuff, 11.23 on a 1.87!

                            Maybe broke a spider gear?

yeah thats what i am thinking. its in the process of being taken apart right now so i will know for sure later today.

good thing this happened at the end of the season. I can put the car away for the winter and start some rebuilding.
