I don't have any short term plans to boost the car, though the Formula had a blower and then the turbo. I think if I build something crazy it will be a separate project.Last edited by Pro Stock John; 05-10-2012, 06:01 PM.2010 Camaro SS/RS L99

Here is the most recent trip to the track. Also if you hunt through my channel there are a couple other little ones. Ignore the puppies in the snw though lol

And thanks for that advice, I'll be sure to change the fluid before Tuesday to see if that helps. I'm even thinking about creating a separate reservoir for the clutch soon. Hopefully that helps too.

I may have missed it -- but, how are you launching?

Ahhhh see, I turn the computer off everytime. I didn't even think of leaving it on. Just a habit to turn it off. Now which mode are you in usually?
And as far as me launching, I usually hover between 2500-2700- slowly letting the clutch out and feathering the gas a little. The last two passes I tried something different basically like a two step and reved up really high to get my turbos spooling to try and have boost when leaving, but it made my clutch stick to the floor for some reason.

Once you've got that down, go switch to TCS off,but leave Stabilitrak on (you'll want that if you get crazy)... This still lets you have some tire spin, but also help keep the car from getting crazy...
Sadly, you have to be rude to the clutch to launch these cars w/o overspinning or bogging..

I don't really have any DR pointers -- never had run them on a stick car.

Thanks for all the tips, i will try it out and let you know how it goes.
i think i will do my next trip on the stock tires to see how much better i can do before i toss on the DR's. i am anticipating a broke axle at some point after i stick those puppies on so i want to make the most of the tires i got for now.
one last question, because i have heard the answer go both ways but because of your times i think you would know- smokey burnout or just a quick burst?

I can't race this weekend, my 6 year old has a baseball game double-header on Saturday.
I've not raced DR's plus a manual, but I would not dump the clutch initially as you could find the limits of your axles pretty quick. I would do a smoky burnout on the first pass, and then I usually do half as much on successive runs. I would change the clutch fluid maybe Randy's reccomendation will mitigate that issue.
I like using a 2-step, helps with consistency.
Here is how I use DR's:
-Air them down to __. For 20's I don't think I'd go below 25 psi to start. I've run 325-50-15's in the 16-17 psi range but they have a ton of sidewall.
-First burnout on new tires, I go extra long.
-if I don't have skinnies up front, I go around the water. I then back into the very front edge of the water box, where it might be a little damp. I do my burnout there to keep it easy on the posi. I roll out of it.
-I make sure to be in the groove. I look at the starting line to make sure I know where it is. If you are out of the groove, there is not as much rubber, and you will not do as well.
-If I'm using a 2 step, I would have that set. I'd roll out fast but not dump the clutch. After all you are trying to go from a 2.29 short time to a 1.95 on your first. Sure doing a 1.7 or 1.8 would rock but take baby steps.
-Watch wheel hop. That breaks stuff. Don't drive it out if it's really bad.2010 Camaro SS/RS L99

On the track, I drive around the water box (as John mentioned) and then back in to it just enough to hit the damp area. I put the car in 2nd, with all the computer controls off and do just enough to heat the tires, dry them off and knock and crap off them.. Constantly doing smokey burn outs on the PZeros is really just a way to make G-Man more money
The 2nd gear thing is for tire speed and to prevent you from bouncing off the limiter like crazy.. The car lights up the tires just fine in second and your RPMs on the engine stay down. Once you hear them start to squeal on you, let the car start moving forward and left off the gas.. Then stage like normal --- remembering to put the car back in to the proper mode before staging.
