    Diminished Value

    Hello all,

    Last week while my car was parked it was backed into. Driver side door, mirror, and quarter panel are damaged. The person who hit me has taken full responsibility, same goes for their insurance company.

    I'm looking for a little help. Has anyone here ever succesfuly filed for diminished value in Illinois? I am seeing contradicting info when I google it.

        I just got back from the body shop down the street from me. The estimate is $3300 for the repair. I tried to call the other persons insurance agent and got her voicemail sayings she leaves the office at 3. I wish I could get off work at 3 in the afternoon everyday.

          Dont sign anything from the insurance company.

            I thought "diminished value" was what the dealer yells as you drive car off the lot.

                You have a good question, and I typed out a one page answer before I deleted it all, LOL
                I refrain from providing legal advice as much as possible on an open forum. if you want an answer to your question, set up an appointment with my secretary, I can fill you in, free of charge. I won't do it over the phone, because of past experiences but I will answer your questions in person in my office.

                  Thanks Lawdog. I spoke with the other persons insurance agent yesterday. She has to speak with one of here adjusters before she can give me an answer about dimished value.
                  If they don't come back with a reasonable response I will reach out to your office.
