  • New Tire Technology

Letting you guys know early. There will be a huge new launch of a new tire technology next month! It wont effect the Camaro just yet but down the line it may effect all vehicles.
I really had a great time with the Vette at the track. But the biggest reason to head down to Texas was to see the unveiling of ten years of preparation by Bridgestone for some new state of the art tire technology.
In my opinion this may be a huge game changer in tires. With the space, weight and cost a spare tire takes and the new mileage rating regulations for the car manufactures set by government. The mandating and use of TPMS
In addition to these facts or questions.
Who wants to sit on side of road for an hour or so waiting on AAA? If you get a flat do you really want to change it and are you in a safe environment to do so? What if you are on your way to work or important meeting, Do you have time for a flat? Even worse what if you are on your way to get your kids and now they are stranded? Bottom line,There is no convenient safe time for a flat.
This new tire will ride the same as regular tire. I know as I just drove on them against other brands such as Michelin and this new tire performed much much better in all catagories, ride, handleing wet and dry, noise everything compared to the Michelin primacy mxv4 and others.

Good research Toasty however no that was a tested technology that is not going to be used in this application it may however be used in an industrial application.

ah. I'd seen articles and testing on the industrial applications on the michelin version, but hadn't seen the bridgestone one until now. Will be interesting to see what the new stuff is. We've become so accustomed to the regular tire/wheel as we know it that it will be interesting to see how new tech gets accepted.

What is nice is that it again will look feel and ride like a regular tire. But with these new technologies that have evolved over last 10 years. I think they now have the game changer tire that will provide customers the ability to drive on after a flat and have it taken care of in a safer more convenient manner. All while not sacrificing anything in other areas. I tried to upload a few videos but the system will not accept since they are mpg and larger files.
I can tell you a big spokesperson will be Julie Bowen from modern family!!

Yes you could say that. But through evolution of Bridgestones technology this tire has a eco rubber compounding which gives improved rolling resistance for better fuel efficiancy, up to 6% improvement over conventional tire.
In addition it has the same silica rich rubber compound found in the best all season tires so no compromise in traction, this tire has excellent all season traction.
Also unlike the old run flat type tire this tire has a 50k mileage warranty for w rated and 65k mileage warranty for H and V speed rated.
This tire is also repairable if punctured in tread area and dealt within reasonable period the tire still maintains run flat capability. A free 1 year road hazrd warranty comes with it.
Again unlike old run flats this tire costs the same as a regular premium touring tire.
Also when the tire has no air in it it does not make the car pull hard to one side while driving or braking unlike regular tires. So you still maintain control. I drove on left front tire totally flat for 50 miles and other than the tire light on, some additional road noise indicating flat you could not really feel a huge difference.

Thanks for the heads up, Garrett. Sounds interesting and something I would consider buying for my daughters car. I get one or two calls per year where she's stranded with a flat. I'm her AAA!
