Whenever there has been a problem, I have asked to speak with a supervisor with the extended warranty, and I have pretty much always received satisfaction. I am certain the shop never did this. In this case, I was never informed, and certainly not told there was an issue prior to coming to retrieve my vehicle. I am a little surprised that a NAPA part was not up to the challenge, however it would not be the first time...
Mind you the Ext. Warranty is not some fly-by-night either, it's the same one CarMax offers, but I bought mine elsewhere...
It's too bad there is not more customer interaction with the techs at the dealer shops, there is often something lost in translation with the service advisors. Speaking from MANY experiences over the years.
It was because of this experience, and the fact that during the same visit where my alternator was replaced, and had to be replaced yet again a few days later due to failure again and developed a new chirp sound that was also not addressed, that I have not returned.
Originally posted by LCPC Kev View PostChecked into this, The difficult part of dealing with aftermarket warrenty companys is we have to play by their rules. In this case they required us to us a aftermarket window regulator that was not up to O.E. standards.
Only after multiable attempts to make it work we finally convinced them to let us us a GM part.
That being said, I have no excuse why you were not kept in information loop, Two years after the repair I'am having a hard time finding out finding out all the details. My Guess is that there was a disconnect between the Tech. and the S.A...Sorry that you had to deal with this.01 Camaro SS 'vert: TSI Racing Built 4L60E,ARH Stepped Headers/Catted Y,Noweeds Diverter,SLP FlowPac & Dual-Dual Exhaust,SS Brake Lines,Koni 8241 SAs,Strano Sways,Fays2 Watts Link,UMI CM SFCs welded,Hotchkis Shock Brace,DDM HIDs

As for parts, the Ext. Warranty does reserve the right to use aftermarket parts, but when there is an issue, a supervisor has pretty much always resolved the issue and agreed to OEM parts if there is a problem.
Nobody shop should call a customer to come pickup a car, if they are still waiting on payment from a third party! That was a first for me -- communication is key. My Ext. Warranty pays shops with a credit card, usually expediently.
I am due for a new Ext. Warranty on my RS -- I am curious to see a price quote -- my guess is it is way overpriced for what is offered, but I am open minded.
Are you saying you work at a company that offers the GMPP Ext. Warranty? Curiously, what is the 2nd one you offer?
My current ones are very good value, and not the ones you hear advertised, as you mention. I know, I have called some of those, and most are pretty poor in comparison to what I have now. I got mine through a credit union:

The dealership probably ate the difference in price for the part and possibly labor to be able to install a OEM regulator that YOUR aftermarket warranty wouldn't cover. Secondly I don't know anyone who would release a product or service without payment. You have no idea the shady crap these aftermarket extended warranties pull. The service advisor was probably betting on a quick turn around on payment by your NONGM extended warranty. Had you bought a GMPP this would not have been an issue on either points, part or payment.
These extended warranties that are advertised on the radio, telemarketing or via mail are junk. I have seen them put literal junkyard engines in to fix an issue and the engine they sent has more issues then the first! And then fight you on payment, hours, and labor rate.
We offer GMPP and a crappy cheap alternative, I won't sell the second one we offer because of their practices. T.The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.

Cant wait to hear/see it. Which options did you choose? I am too going to do some more investigation into cans while I am in FL this week.
