Thoughts about wiring mods

Regarding upgrades or mod's:

My advice has always been, DO NOT CUT WIRES. Caspers mantra is Plug And Play, and for good reasons. So, if you are going to do anything to the wiring, especially outside of the interior, just remember to keep it sealed.

This is probably the best advice I could give anyone. BTW, Caspers is into wiring upgrade modifications to Camaro engine components already, and has done the original design of the skip shift eliminators (lots of clones and copies out there now), so we know what it takes. We're working on a manual fan controller right now along with lighting plug-in mods. Stay tuned.

We are located in Mundelein, and have hosted Buick club meetings for years, so I can see a Camaro club meet as a definite possibility. Give me some of your thoughts and ideas.

We don't get into lighting, but we do wiring for relay conversions and things like that. Years ago, we were a distributor for Philips and used to supply the HID ballasts and D2S bulbs. That was before the Chinese ballasts hit the street. Long gone now.

There is some DIY stuff with the fog/halo wiring where they both run at the same time, using diodes on the wiring of the bulkhead connector. We carry that connector, and could make a plug and play device so you don't have to cut wiring. I think the DIY project uses the wrong diodes, splices them into the wires, and has potential to give you problems up the road. It can be done easily using sealed connections.

We are working on a fan HI LO switch system that plugs into the AC pressure switch connector. That's soon to come.

Good advice!

If you're passing 15-20 watts or so, you'd need 3 amp diodes and not Zener diodes, don't know where he got that idea from. Nevertheless, it worked for him (diodes probably get pretty hot, the ones he used are 1 watt).

Anyway, when I saw that post, I thought it would be MUCH better to have a pair of mating connectors - the Camaro uses GT 150 series sealed connectors for the bulkhead.

Cutting, splicing and taping any wire outside of the car, especially those in the front end, will lead to a problem. It's amazing what a simple nick in the insulation of a wire can cause. Especially when there is salt in the air, or worse, on the ground when the car gets wet.

Can you make a plug and Play solution for the RS to Regular light install? I have a light to use if you need a sample. Would like to see that as there are a few members out there looking for a plug and play light to get the RS lights.
