Cruise To Starved Rock Lodge for Lunch !
THIS IS A GREAT CRUISE THAT HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE and a great destination at its end with good food and you will NOT leave hungry!
Seating is limited so I need an accurate head count! I currently have us down for 26 people and 15 cars, but I'm happy to reserve more. So sign up!
I posted below a picture of the Designated Route we are taking to get there and also some suggested Routes back home depending upon where you live.
Of course you are free to take your own way home depending upon where you live.
First Pick Up Point and leave time will be at 10:30 AM. at Shell Station , 600 E. North Ave. Lombard
It's at the intersection with Route 53
There is a huge parking lot immediately behind the shell station, (Brauer House) so we will line up after you gas up in that parking lot to pass out materials and discuss the route before we leave.
Second Meet point Route 55 and Route 6 at the Thortons Gas Station., Channahon, IL
11:15 my estimation at arrival at second pick up point. We Probably will be there as early as 11:00 or as late as 11:30 Anyone that wants to meet at the second pick up point please plan on being there at 11:00 we will leave 15 minutes after our arrival no later.
A 10:30 leave time at the first meet point should be late enough so no one has excuses its too early, or they want a reasonable leave time, and you know who you are. LOL
Estimated time of arrival 1:00 with a few stops along the way to pick up more members,
Lunch is at 1:30 sharp ! They will only hold our reservation for 15 minutes so we do have to be on time.
We will be eating lunch at the Lodge . it's a Brunch , $15.95 adult and $8.00 for kids 10 years old and under.
We will have to make accurate reservations. this place gets very crowded and they don't play around with holding tables so please don't wait until the last minute to sign up. It is VERY difficult at this place to increase the reservation in the last few weeks before the event.

Exit Shell Station Turn Right onto North Ave.
Immediately Get in Left Lane Go West .2 miles Get in Double Left Hand Turning Lanes
Turn Left On I-355 (Southbound) entrance ramp
At Trip Mileage 11.0 there is Construction on left 45 MPH limit
Proceed South to Trip Mileage 14.9 miles to I-55 it is the second exit on right side ST. LOUIS (Stay to your Right)
Proceed on I-55 until Route 6 (It is 35.7 on Trip Meter)
Turn right (west) on Route 6, Proceed to Thortons Gas Station on right. 24144 Route 6, Chanahon, Il
Arrival time 11:08 a.m.
RESET YOUR TRIP ODOMETER TO 0
Exit Thortons at 11:18
Exit Thortons
Turn Right (West) on Route 6
Proceed west to Mclinden Rd. (5.7 miles)
Turn Left on Mclinden Rd. Dont worry we are going to pull over and regroup here on the side of the road if necessary.
Some new pavement here and NO STRIPES for 2 miles
McLinden turns into Cemetary Road at the Bend
Railroad Crossing at 7.7 miles
Proceed on Cemetary Road Some minor gravel at Trip Mileage12.8
Proceed to Washington St. (At Trip Mileage13.3)
Turn Left on Washington St We are going to pull over to side of road and regroup, if necessary, Plenty of room to do so.
Proceed to ROUTE 47 (Its at Trip Mileage 14.4)
Turn Left on Route 47
Proceed to DuPont Rd. (Its at 17.7 Trip Mileage)
Turn Right On DuPont Rd. We will pull over to side of road after we turn on DuPont Rd. if necessary to regroup. Plenty of room to do so.
FARM debri possible at Mile 19.3 and 21.4 Trip Mileage They were working in the farm Saturday I saw
ROUGH Railroad Crossing at 24.5 Trip Mileage
Some Sweeping Blind Dangerous Curves start at trip mileage 25.3
Proceed to RIVER Rd. At 27.5 Trip Mileage
Turn Right on River Road, If you ran into I- 170 you passed it !
River Road changes names several times Just stay on it ! Its also known as N2553 Rd., then Route 30, then N2653 Rd. Then Gentleman Trumbo Rd., Then Route 55 then Trumbo Rd Road Kill at Trip Mileage 36.7
Proceed to Route 23 at 40.1 Trip Mileage
Turn right on Route 23 (north)
Proceed to Route 71 a/k/a Hitt St. at trip Mileage 41.2
Turn Left on Route 71
Proceed to E875 th St Starved Rock Entrance Rd. At Trip Mileage 50.2
ETA Arrival Time 12:45 P.M.
I will try to get Parking spots Roped Off for us in the main lot. If for some reason that doesn't happen or the spots have been hijacked we will be parking on the side of the road exiting the park rather then the gravel overflow Lot.
Going Home there is a fast direct route through Utica and a lot of great shops in Utica A Great Confectioner , a cupcake place, a wine bar downtown.. Turn Right as you exit Starved Rock and proceed to Route 178 Turn Right on Route 178 (north) proceed through Utica to I-80 Turn Right to merge on I-80 East
Return Route.
You have a multitude of Return Routes at your disposal.
Return Routes are entirely at your discretion.
You could take expressways back.
Route 178 North to I 80 east to 355
Or Route 178 North To I 80 east to I 39 North to I 88 eastbound
Or you could take some country roads that some of our members may be taking like
Route 178 north to Route 71 turn right and go to Route 47 turn left (Northbound)
and proceed to Green Rd. turn right (northeast) and go to Hughes Rd and turn right (east)
And proceed to Fabian Parkway and turn left (east)
And proceed towards Randall Rd, Routes 31 or 25 ect
