Dave works Saturday now so anything planned for Saturday outing will be a maybe, just depends how he feels when he gets home, he's very upset that the new car show the club is attending on Saturday not Sunday so we are out, first one we have missed since the club started going

You can blame that on the Chicago auto show. They are starting valentines day weekend and ending the following weekend. It's a lose lose situation. no one wants to go on valentines day and going the last day is not that pleasant either, some of the exotic cars have pulled out. They also pulled Illinois Camaro Club out of the event this year.

It's been that way since way back in '10-'11 when I was more active and had a 5th gen myself. One of the major hurdles with that idea is that it's very difficult to find a place in Chicago proper that's got parking for people to actually show up, a venue that's worth attending and something that everyone will agree on.

You'll find that many of the owners here simply won't risk their cars parallel parked on a Chicago road (I didn't and I live in the city). Compounded with the problem of few places in the city with enough parking for the cars that would show. Not to mention how tight the spaces are to begin with. It's just overall too difficult for most venues to get that many cars down here.

The one time I broke my rule about parallel parking was less than a mile from my place on the north side. I stopped at Starbucks on the way home from something, went to drop money in the meter like 10ft away and turned around just in time to see a parking by braille idiot back right in to me. Then, claimed "that's what you get for having a nice car in the city". So, yeah. Nope.

I can't tell you the number of times I drove out to various 'burbs after work for the weekday events. That's just how it goes.

Now, if there are places in outlying, but still Chicago city, that would possibly work, but most of the cool/fun/trendy things to do are in the more densely populated areas and are a nightmare for people to drive in to, find and then pay to park, not to mention all their worry while parked that "crap will happen"

Things like World of Wheels and Chicago Auto Show are exceptions because they're at massive sprawling complexes with ample parking.. Even then some are nervous due to the number of people coming/going that have 0 respect for a show car.

I would have love to have more in the city.. It's just difficult on all parties.
