Just did the cruise and the views in some areas are spectacular ! especially towards the end the last 20 miles !
The roads are real clean but there are a few things I will have cover at he drivers meeting at the start point so please be on time .
The Corvette club looks like they are here today and all parked in the gravel/grass overflow parking lot. they have about 21 cars there that I can see. Tansor must have missed that one.Last edited by Lawdog; 10-17-2015, 05:17 PM.Comment

Based upon the time numbers I crunched today, we are going to be in and out of there.We will be there at 10:45-11:00. We will be out of there at as soon as we pick you up.

These are the FINAL AND CORRECT PRINTED DRIVING DIRECTIONS YOU WILL RECEIVE
From First Meet Point Shell Gas Station
SET YOUR TRIP ODOMETER to follow these at first meet, they may be slightly off by a few tenths because I periodically stopped at gas stations.
Turn Right on North Ave (west) and IMMEDIATELY get in the left hand lane.Double up in the left hand lanes to prepare for a Double Left Turn Lane to
355 Southbound.
You have to get into the left lane BEFORE the Light !
Toll Booth exists on the entrance ramp to 355
We will proceed at a rate of 55 until Roosevelt to make sure that everyone is together,
Speed limit after that is approx. 70
at 15.7 miles exit south on 55 (St Louis) DONT SCREW UP AND TAKE THE WRONG EXIT
Make sure you stay in right lane after you exit because the ramp splits in two
Keep on ST, Louis 55
There is aa Substantial BUMP in the left lane around Route 30 !
Speed limit now is approx 75
at 36.6 miles exit Route 6 (westbound) turn Right on Route 6
There is Road construction right at the exit for 1 block in front of the BP Amoco Station.
THS IS THE SECOND PICK UP POINT
Turn Left at the street immediately past the BP Amoco and it will lead you around the back.
We will line up on this same road leading around the back to all exit onto Route 6 again together

Exit the BP Amoco station road and turn LEFT (Southwest) onto Route 6
BE CAREFUL THE SPEED LIMIT is 45 and there is a cop on the right hand side down the road one block! There is no need to go fast to catch up because it turns to 2 lanes and we will be going slow in the right lane until everyone is with us again if we get separated. Not a big concern, not much traffic there.
At 43.7 miles turn left (South) on Mclinden Rd., it is a SMALL road and not marked at the intersection. There will be a yellow 4 way sign on the right just before it.
Continue on this road until a sharp right hand bend in the road GRAVEL in the turn !You are now on Cemetery Road.
At 45 miles ROUGH RAILROAD CROSSING
Speed limit drops to 25 at the actual cemetery
at 51.4 miles turn left on Washington St
speed limit is still only 25 !!
At 52.3 miles turn left on Route 47
This is a difficult turn, so we will have a regroup point at 54 miles (Southwest Rd)
There is a bank on the right side of the intersection we will use if we get separated to regroup.
This is important because right after the light in becomes one lane and speed increases to 55
at 55.8 miles turn right on DuPont Rd
NASTY Railroad Crossing at 62.5 miles
Another Railroad Crossing at 64.4 miles
at 65.7 miles River Road is on your right only Turn Right
at 69 miles you have entered the KILL ZONE You will encounter a dozen raccoons, possems at various locations. Be prepared to weave around the carcasses. This will end in a 2 mile stretch.
Continue west on River Road and it turns into N2553 Rd.
Take a slight right and the road becomes Route 30
and then it takes on the name of Gentleman Trumbo Road
It has also picked up a route 55 designation at this point
Just stay on this road westbound. You will at time see the Trumbo Road name
At 78 miles turn right on Route 23 (north) Kroeger store is on your left
Speed Limit here is 35 and decreases to 30 for one mile !
At 79.2 miles turn left on Route 71 (westbound)
Dont worry about speeding to catch up, there is a nice shoulder lane up the road 1 mile and we will pull over if necessary.
Proceed another ten miles to Starved Rock Entrance
Turn right at E 875 th Rd., proceed up the drive.
