I'll bring my helmet too. I don't need it for the drag strip, but those faster than 13.5 do.

I am hoping to qualify for needing the helmet!

We will see how the ZL1 nannies / electronics / launch control behaves and hoping it does not befuddle me at the line...LOL... newbie nerves...

I just made it to Winners Circle in Joliet just before they closed today. Had a hell of a time finding a place that sells helmets in stock (not online).

Liked them a lot, are there others closer?

Racing starts @ 10, but they normally open the gates an hour earlier so everyone can get set up.

I'm excited to see your car run. Is this your first time ever drag racing at a track?

Yes it will be my first time ever racing at a track

Been to the track many times as a kid in NY (Raceway Park NJ & Dover Dragstrip) and have always had fast street cars, but never ran on a strip.

There will be several of us there with manual forced induction cars. We can help you with your launch (the hardest part) and the shifting (second hardest).

Don't fiddle around with Launch Control or the electronics your first few times out. Leave them all on and just get comfortable with the tree and the launching of your car. Let the computer handle everything else. This will give you a chance to practice your shifting and shift points.

Once you're more comfortable and have made some passes, then start upping the PTM modes (except for 5) until you've found a spot you're comfortable with.

Going all out your first attempt is a good way to kill it at the line or do damage to the car, even one with OE heavy duty parts. You wanna get to a point of being calm and collected at the line. Things happen very fast one they start the tree, so you'll want to be fluid from that point out.

You being a PD blower, like mine, you get flat quick boost and TQ almost off idle.. That will take getting adjusted to without computer assistance. Your OE tires are better than OE SS tires, but are still not like Drag Radials.. So, over powering them is still a possibility as is wheel hop.
