I think it would be prudent to leave us some extra time, shooting for leaving a bit earlier, say 10 or 10:15... Need to look at historical traffic patterns. I shiuld be abke to do that by early this week

          • I'm a little more excited that text on a forum shows

See you all in Grand Rapids.

Also, as an FYI, we'll be filling up in Port Huron, going into the duty free store for Crown, and a few other things, then crossing the border....once across, we usually get off at the first exit, then park in a furniture store, to wait up for those getting the "rubber glove" inspection.... then hit the highway to Oshawa.

I thought we were going to meet up at the oasis at 8:00am. Pushing the time out two hours wouldnt get us in to Oshawa until 8:30 or 9:00pm.

Pertaining to alcohol and cigarettes, you need to buy before crossing the border. Prices are much higher in Canada, much higher. Like way higher, if you haven't got the point yet.

I don't like this meet point at 1:30. I was hoping to leave super early myself, to beat rush hour traffic here and to hopefully avoid rush hour traffic in Toronto.

Steve, we should check out if the hotel has a hose and water supply, so we can wash our LLT's. I don't know if anyone has set up wash stations, but I like to detail my car myself.

I plan on bringing a portable battery, my leaf blower, and enough Adam's supplies to bring home a trophy or two.

                  • There is an established meet point in Grand Rapids departing at 1:30. Leaving around 10 from the South Holland oasis gets us there around 1. Oshawa is 6.5 hours from there.

                    • I think it would be fun to meet up with the GR group but why are they leaving so late?

According to Bing Maps its about a 2 1/2 hour drive from the oasis to the GR meet point. That's assuming good traffic and no stops. Plus we need to add an hour because of the time zone change. That would get us in GR 1:30 EDT or later. The GR group is planning on leaving at 1:30 and getting to Lansing around 2:30. Not sure what time they plan on leaving Lansing but I would assume shortly thereafter. Oshawa is 5 more hours without any stops. But of course there's the border to contend with and gas stops.

                      • Leaving at 1000 will get us there about 2 pm wit the time zone change...
If so we will have to leave earlier....
                        Lets confirm this please

                        • I guarantee somebody will be detained at the border for a more thorough search of their car. That will add time as I'm sure we will wait for whomever gets all their stuff rifled through.

If the border guards are Maple Leaf fans, then more than likely it will be you.
