Even though I am not going. I went to SIU, so I am familiar with the area and I just wanted to let you know Carbondale is about 25 minutes from Marion(ie 57 exit). You may not want to detour that far out of your way (I would if I was going) but either way have great time!

I have to agree on this stop at Mt Vernon exit lots off food there too and will be an in and out deal and right on the highway. If anyone needs servicing too the chevy dealer is 3/4 mile down the road on the right.

Thats the town I was born in North of SIU by an hour or so also where my fathers farm is located north of town!

Another note: There is a town called Murphysboro next to Carbondale which has the best BBQ in the state. It's called 17th Street Bar & Grill. They also have locations in Marion, Sparta and O'Fallon.

Yup. First post!

8 am leave time was from the starting point up by Lawdog and myself to arrive around 7 in Memphis. That put us at 80 and 57 around 9:30.

That's probably my fault as I was dropping off my son at 7:30am and it will take me about an hour to get there. I'm in no hurry so we can plan on leaving McD's a little later if everyone wants to. either way I'll be there as close to 8:30 am as possible. C ya soon!!!!
