  • New Event Announcements for 2017

We had a few announcements today that I would like to post to get some feed back on.

    1) Woodward dream cruise August 19,2017 located in the Metro Detroit area, we will start getting info to get a hotel and block off room and make a itinerary of things to do.
http://woodwarddreamcruise.com/ They even have an app for this just search Woodward Dream Cruise.

    2) Nascar Race at Joliet IL, September 17,2017 we will put together special parking for all CNG members that would like to go, also get a block of seat together in the stands and possibly work on pit passes so we can get up close to the cars and the equipment. there is nothing like the sound, the smell, of seeing 43 850 hp cars running at 175 mph around a track.

    3) Route 66 mothers road festival, third weekend in September (no official date yet). In case you were wondering what this is...
Over 1,000 cool cars and 80,000 spectators will roll into the heart of Springfield's historic downtown September 23-25, 2016 for a weekend of family fun in the sun and non-stop live music and entertainment! Come celebrate the golden age of Route 66...the cars, the music, the food, the friends - all brought together along Illinois Route 66. This will be the 16th year this event will be held in Springfield. Below is the link for this years event.

All great ideas! I'm a big fan of #1 and #3. #2 not really me but I'd probably go if it gets scheduled, just to be a team player.

Have been to the Woodward Dream Cruise the last 3 years. It's a GREAT Time. Tony No and I went this past year. Kathy 63 and Dave the year before. The Detroit 5th Gen Club have been Great Host. Parking in the past has been with the Camaro Corral south @ 10 Mile Rd. with Brian Meissen heading that area up. Most of the D5G Camaro's park at Memorial Park @ 13 Mile Rd. I have the contact person info for that area . $40 bucks for Fri Sat parking. It would be great if we could go in great number as you wont be sorry. So much to see. I have stayed in Novi Michigan just 20 mins. drive west of Woodward Ave. I have stayed @ the Hilton , which Freddie has suggested . Nice . safe place to stay. But there are other places too. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks I'm up for all 3 .

Thanks FFF and CAM74, for now we will edit the posting to say 3rd week in September for the #3 Route 66.

CAM74, can you please PM us the info so we can check out the contacts you have and start working to set things up for Woodward...

Also we have created a section for each event with potential participants and have included those who have already provided input as to if they would be interested. We will move these to their own threads as we get more detail.

                I would be in for 2 and 3 .

Not sure about Woodward. Maybe I would have to figure some things out first. I may be interested in Woodward with the daily driver.

Hi All, don't forget this list is to show interest so we can organize these events with a feel for estimated numbers. So please let us know if this is something that interests you. I know it seems like it is a long time away but this will help us organize the best spots for these events. Looks like we already have enough participation to consider these events to be on...

For the Nascar event, the track has $48 seats on sale, it is geared towards kids but you do get to meet Jimmie Johnson. The seats aren't bad, we sat in this section last year and enjoyed it.

Thanks for the info. Would that be for Sept 17? Wytlighting has mentioned maybe getting seats together and potentially pit passes. i've never been to Nascar, so have no clue what to organize. But I'm willing to try to Kathy or someone can guide me.

That is for the 17, I don't mind helping put it together, we go every year to Chicagoland and we usually take the Camaro so you know we don't park just anywhere.
