  • 9/25-9/27: 14th Annual International Route 66 Mother Road Festival in Springfield

Is anyone planning on going to the 14th Annual International Route 66 Mother Road Festival in Springfield on the weekend of September 25/26/27th?

Over 1,000 cool cars and 80,000 spectators will roll into the heart of Springfield’s historic downtown this September for a weekend of family fun in the sun with non-stop live music and entertainment! Come celebrate the Golden Age of Route 66…the cars, the music, the food, the friends……all brought together along Illinois’ Route 66. Event features include:

Friday Night: Rt. 66 City Nights Cruise For Crime Stoppers – over 1,000 classic cars cruise the city streets!

Saturday: Over 40 classes of car awards with CASI certified national judging! 50+ Show Car Judging Classes

Horsepower Alley with high horsepower features like the BURNOUT Competition and Lucas Oil DYNO CHALLENGE!

Performance Marketplace for the restoration enthusiast - vendors on display throughout downtown.... and more. See URL below

Bonnier LLC is an outdoor adventure company that fuels passion for fishing, boating, sailing, motorsports, hunting and travel.

There are still rooms available at the hotels in downtown Springfield. JoAnne and I are planning on driving down Friday afternoon to be there in time for the cruise/parade to downtown. If anyone wants to drive down together we could try to hook up.

This is a cool event. If you park your car downtown and stay at a downtown motel, you can leave your car parked in the same location all weekend. The streets are blocked off and they have police patrolling the area at night.

I may go on Saturday but doing a Car Show in Clinton on Sunday at my Chevy Dealer (Baum Chevrolet). It's a great show and is in conjunction with the Apple and Pork Festival so something for the wives too.

This is a very cool event. Should make it a C5G event sometime in the future. Everyone stay at a motel downtown for shenanigans and you can leave your car in place for the show all weekend. Police protected 24/7. Just a thought.

This event is awesome! I parked the car Friday night... staying at hotel on next block. It doesn't have to move until i leave on Sunday. Which means I am drinking beer, talking cars, and having a blast... Friday night, Saturday, and Saturday night. Bring your own cooler. Or patronize the local restaurants (all very reasonable).... this is going to be an annual event for us.

Just watched the burnout contest, thinking some of the guys in C5G could do better lol. Having a lot of fun here looking at all the cars. I don't think I've ever seen so many at once. It would be nice to make this an annual club event. While handing out awards for the burnout contest they mentioned a club that's been coming here for awhile and having the largest club #'s. They're from St Louis and that's just sad. Renegades have 40 cars here. I think we could do better :-)

FYI - for those who haven't gone to this before, the pic Kel posted were from Friday night when we were all being lined up for the cruise through the city. There were so many cars lined up, it took over an hour for them to get to where we were in line - with tons more after us even. The rest is like Morris (only probably 3x or more larger) and we're lined up in the streets with the streets all closed and patrolled by police.
