I registered with your clubs website to reach out and network with you guys and give you guys a contract person from our club while you visit our town for the Woodward Dream Cruise. Myself and the majority of our club members will be parked at Memorial Park located on 13 mile.and Woodward both Friday and Saturday. We pre-registered for these spots well in advance before the Camaro Coral was created but some of our members will be at the coral. However I will be giving rides to wheelchair bound individuals along with other club members with convertibles to brighten up their day on Friday from 2-7pm and I would like to meet up with you and your Chicago 5th gen family members and welcome you to our town before 1pm or after 7pm on Friday. I can be reached via email at angelohayes@yahoo.com. looking forward to hear from you guys. Have a safe trip. Angelo
Thanks, Angelo! It doesn't look like any of us will be there before 1pm, but hopefully we'll be in town before 7pm. It's a 7 hour drive for me depending on traffic so maybe I can make it down to Memorial Park Friday evening sometime after we get there. We'll definately look for the 5th Gens if we make it down there.

Thanks again for the nice welcome. This is my first Woodward Cruise so it will be a learning trip for sure. If you have any tips for us first timers, post'em up.

    Oh, and welcome to

    Thank you,
    FFF

      Woodward Dream Cruise

Not sure everyone is monitoring the Facebook thread about the cruise in and the Camaro Corral. So I wanted to let everyone know that with the rain and flooding Detroit has had there's concern about the Parks where we would be parking. Right now, it's not looking good and there may only be about 50 spots for cars and there not sure about that. Also, they are supposed to get more rain tonight. Needless to say, it doesn't look good. I'm going to keep monitoring the thread and if it doesn't get better or if they can't find additional space for us, I'm probably going to cancel my plans to go up there. I hate this with a passion! I'll keep posting updates on here as they develop.

We are hoping for the best! We are camping about 30 miles from Woodward and paid for Friday night. It's on a lake is what I'm worried about. Thanks for keeping us updated. Found an article that said that everything was cleaned up by Tuesday afternoon and the flooding would not impact the cruise, but it didn't say anything about the roads getting to it.

Yeah Kathy, I think I would definitely check things out if I was planning to camp especially along a lake. Sounds like everything there is overflowing. My worries is how soft the ground will be with us parking on a lawn. If it was a paved parking lot, fine, no worries, but that's not the case unless they make other arrangements. I heard on the national news tonight that Detroit has had a years worth of rain within the last week. I think I heard that right. That's a lot of water. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm sure the city wants people to come because that's a lot of money lost for them.

Called this morning about our camping and they said it is good to go but I can call again Friday morning before we leave and check it again. Like I said though it is about 30 miles from Woodward, she also said that she was in Ann Arbor they did not get hit, not sure where that is though.

Ann Arbor is pretty far west of Detroit. From what I've seen, the heaviest rainfall and flooding is in the city and maybe a 15-20 mile radius around the city. This would be our parking area for the event.

I'm going to watch the Facebook reports today and tomorrow and decide tomorrow afternoon whether to go up. The forecast for that area Saturday and Sunday is calling for more rain which has me concerned a little for the drive home on Sunday. My car didn't fair so well the last time I encountered storms coming home from an event. I don't need another situation like that again this year or ever if I can prevent it.

Thanks for the info Freddie. Based on the FB message from the Detroit 5th Gen Club which I sent you I'm going early Friday AM. I will try to find out more as to a backup parking spot. Detroit Club using Memorial Park @ 13 mile and Woodward. If we call we may get a spot with them if available North of where we would have been. Let me know what the Group thinks.. If you can find a spot grab one for us too, thanks, we'll be there sometime Friday afternoon. We got together with a 5th gen club a few years ago when we went and parked and hung out with them, not sure what they are doing this year, but parking is going to even be worse than normal since so much was affected by the weather.

Hello Chicago 5th Gen Family. I have asked our club member who is heading our clubs parking arrangements at Memorial Park to check with his contact person for the City of Royal Oak to find out if they have anymore spaces available for you guys to park with us or somewhere in the park. The cost is $35.00 which includes parking passes for both Friday and Saturday which is a great deal for Dream Cruise Parking. Woodward & 13 mile is the heart of the action. I expect to hear back from him on Thursday and I will post the information as soon as I get it. Freddie in the mean time could you give me a count of how many spaces you guys will need for each day. Thanks Angelo (734) 250-2174. I will do all I can on this end to help.

If I'm counting correctly, the most we would need are four spots. Thanks for your help Angelo.

I'm really up in the air about going with all the uncertainty. You guys know me, all the stars have to be lined up perfectly, but most importantly, I have to feel confident and sure of what's going to happen. That's just how I am with me car. Hope you understand.

                        Woodward Dream Cruise

Freddie, I just spoke with the people who is running Memorial Park and they said that they are booked solid with 800 cars. Now with that being said they are located only two miles up the street from the Camaro Coral and they are parking on the grass as well! Besides the Woodward Dream Cruise is over 16 miles long and with only four cars you guys can park somewhere on Woodward along that streach especially if you are out there earlypeople will be coming and going all day longit is like a giant parade route.

Thanks so much for the information. I will be better prepared for next year.

For eveyone else here: I've made the decision to stay behind and sit this one out. I'm sure with several parking areas being too soft to park in/on, the parking will be hard to come by and there's no way I'm setting in traffic with what I have under the hood. My orginal plan was to park in the Corral and stay put until the evening. When you've got 150 people going for 50 spots, there's going to be issues.

Those that are still going, hope you have a safe trip and post up some pics so we can all see what we missed.

                          Thanks,
