I'm open to anything.. The major issue I have is work.. I always ask about upcoming events far away because I need to put in requests @ work. Events like this, Pontiac, and lake Geneva etc.... I don't want to miss so I just throw out "friendly" reminders. I'm not really into car shows but a nice scenic cruise I'm in. (Although I did almost crash/die a few times going to Hooters) My cut off is the 10th of the month the month before. Silly I know.

    Thanks for the consideration
    Mike

I'm pretty sure June is booked pretty much, and we have Camaro5Fest at the beginning of August, July may be an option, unless we are invited back down to Pontiac and do RT 66 cruise, but I have not seen any indication on that this year

Folks I'm down for whatever. Breakfast and a cruise is cool!

How about old Joliet prison? They have tours there since it was closed I think. It would make for some great photo ops of our cars and we could lock Ruthy up in the hole and leave her there!

A cruise to a ghost town might be cool. Southern and western Illinois is loaded with Ghost towns.

You guys ever been to Starved Rock?

I've suggested starved rock but with little response, I would be up for a ghost town, that would be cool, what towns are you talking about?

Starved rock sounds fun... Like I said I'll do them all if I have notice. I've never been there but I did look it up. Looks nice... Wife may want to come.

It depends how far people will want to drive. Cairo, Illinois would be the best one to visit. It's on the southern tip of Illinois though.

Buda would be much closer and there are surrounding towns also in decline.

This list has most of them and describes what is still standing in various counties.

Mine too. My wife and I take the bike up there as much as we can. Favorite places to eat is Captain's Cove on the opposite side of the river of Starved Rock Lodge. The other place is Duffy's Tavern in Utica, IL.

Captain's Cove: (Cousin Grouper Sandwich is my favorite. They have a nice outdoor seating area that overlooks the river.)

Take Route 71 to the Lodge because it has some nice curvy road to zoom zoom on.

Dude if we can't get a club event going let me know if you'd like to ride up there. I'm going to run that place on my Harley one way or another.

With the amount of interest that I've seen in a road trip of some form, I have no doubt that we'll get a club event going, but I fully expect that there may not be much action on it until after the first board meeting in June... we're coming up fast on the club's Children's Miracle Network car show on June 2, so there's a focus on that, (and the other June events) until then... Stay tuned!!!

Now, I look around and can't believe the number of people I don't know. I'm horrible at names, but I do remember faces! For those of you that haven't met me, just come up to me and say hi and tell me who you are! I love to talk. haha
