I think a lot of people work on Saturday, Sunday may be better, and maybe we can shoot for a 10:00 breakfast seating time, centrally located.

I totally agree with you whole heartedly. Totally feel like an outsider I guess as a new member you have to make an effort to meet people but a lot of different clicks out there but there are also some really great people that help you fit right in !

There's plenty of hotels around, just have to make sure that it's not on a weekend with a big event. I know of a pretty big cruise night out that way on a Saturday night, but it's on the 10th of august, the weekend after camaro5 fest. Not the bests timing. Otherwise, would be a good cruise out on a saturday morning, bum around town for a while and head back in to the cruise night, (probably about 1:15 or so back east to curise night) spend the night and come home sunday.

That being said, maybe there is interest in an overnight trip?

I totally agree with you whole heartedly. Totally feel like an outsider I guess as a new member you have to make an effort to meet people but a lot of different clicks out there but there are also some really great people that help you fit right in !

I think at the next meeting we should seriously all stand up, introduce ourselves, state what we do for a living, married, single, children and town we live in and the type of car we drive so we can put some attributes with the face to help us remember each other better. I am terrible in remembering names with faces, I need to work on that I know, I could use any help I can get to put it together. this may help people find others with similar interests as well, could even state a hobby you have outside of cars during this intro period.

Yeah, it's hard talking to everybody when we have a lot of people at an event. I used to know just about everyone who regularly came to events. Yeah, there's a C5G picnic usually later in the summer, but we will have other/more events/meets coming up, too.

But also, if any of you have an idea for a meet, and there is nothing scheduled, by all means, post up what you are planning!

In years past, we have had impromptu weekend meets at a number of different places. One of which is/was Portillo's in Bloomingdale. Not sure if we can make that work this year, but I hope you get the idea

I like the idea of showing up in force at a local restaurant and slamming them with business. It is always amusing to see their expressions when we all roll in, hehe. Let's all go up to that dairy ice cream shop in Huntley one nite or something similar in Schaumburg, Downers?

Have you guys ever been to Bob Chinn's Crab House? It's the #1 Seafood joint in the country. Good drinks, great food, and it's a comfortable restaurant. They are also known for their steaks so they have something on the menu for everybody.

It's at 393 South Milwaukee avenue in Wheeling. I don't know if the location is cool with everyone or not so if you kiddies are down let me know and I'll take point and schedule it.

I also like Lawdog's ideas so I'm up for pretty much anything.

I think it would be a good idea to do this at the beginning of the summer so people can meet and up the excitement for events to follow. There's a bunch of really cool people in the club and I want to spend more time with you all...so I can corrupt you.

Oh and for you officer types if the brass ever need an assist for some of the events in the future please feel free to crack the whip! I'd be happy to help doing some of the leg work and lighten the load. I'm sure scheduling this stuff can be hectic and time consuming so don't hesitate to have me help you all out.

Lot's of great ideas! I know we are working on weekend morning bi-monthly cars and coffee... We wanted to do something that will get into everyones neck of the woods. So, the 1st one might be in Naperville, then one in McHenry, then Chicago, etc. The other event in the works and that had people showing a lot of interest, was a picnic at the Rockford Speedway. We were going to plan the speedway event anyway, so why not make a day out of it and BBQ and hang out? I will also look into some of the other suggestions here. I would just like to say that when these things happen, we need the turn out... That's what it's all about!
