Whoah, 16 pages. Didn't read all the way through this thread, but my first event was Millers Ale house in April, and I definitely felt like an outsider.
I looked up from taking pics and most people had already filtered inside. I was able to talk to a couple people, but they ended up being new people too.
When I got inside, everybody was at different tables all over the place so I didn't really feel like I could just sit down at some random table where nobody knew me.
I'm a pretty outgoing guy so it takes a lot for me to feel uncomfortable. Ended up just hitting the road...:-/
