Sad i missed last year didnt have enough vacation time. Since i got denied vacation time for the power tour this year this will be one of my events. Im looking forward to going.
Not sure I'll be doing a Camaro Corral there this year.... not happy with the track on a few things. I'm saving myself for the Camaro Rally in the Black Hills. I need something different.
And letting Tran make any more profit off my ass isn't going to happen.[/QUOTE
Looking forward to some open roads with a bunch of friends !!!
It was a great time last year. They got a lot of comments and suggestions on things that went well and things that need improved upon. I'm sure it will be even better second time around. One common item that people wanted and they didn't get nailed down was a lap around IMS and a Tour. I would expect that to happen this year. It's got to be a lot of work so hopefully they will get started early and nail some critical items up front.
For all of us NASCAR fans, Indy is the weekend before Camarofest4, so that will work out nicely for Chevy to be there. Chicago is the week before Indy too, so 3 straight weeks of motorsports and potential fun!
I can't wait!
The IMS tour was awesome I definitely recommend it!!
The Wyndham Hotel is again the selected host hotel for 2013. What's more - it is the ONLY hotel we've established a special group rate with for this year. The building is large enough to accommodate everyone who came last year and more - and that's what we'd like to see happen!
Price per room is $90 + tax Discount Code = Camaro5Fest Event Dates: Thursday (meet/greet) 8/1, Fri-Sat (track days) 8/2-8/3 Dates group rate is honored: 7/31 - 8/03 Reservation Number = 1-877-361-4511
- Please use the 1-800 number and do not call the hotel directly.
And if you have ANY questions, please feel free to contact us at this info.Camaro5fest@gmail.com, or contact any moderator here on the website.
Can't wait to see you all there, from the C5 Mod Squad…:-)
my dad & I are very interested in attending this in August. My dad has a few questions though so if someone can help me answer them for him..
first, for the drag strip, is there insurance for the cars in case of an accident? or do u get insurance for the strip somehow?
second, do you need/recommend a helmet for the drag strip?
lastly, how does everything work at Camaro5Fest? like how does the agenda go for the three days?

To be honest, I am not sure how the insurance/coverage is, but I suspect that you may be on your own. I didn't race last year, so not entirely sure.
You will need a helmet, should be NHRA rules, but everybody has to have a helmet. They'll likely post the requirements soon, if they're not already.
The schedule has not been posted as of yet, but typically Friday and saturday are filled with hanging out and/or racing. It sounds like they dont want to do both autocross and drags at the same time, though.
Since you have a v6 you won't be going fast enough to need a helmet, per the NHRA.
If you can drive in a straight line you will not need extra insurance but your normal insurance will NOT cover you on the track. You can buy it but you really won't need it.
If you have never been down a 1/4 drag strip before, or it has been a while, take a look at this post for some tips from some of us that have done it and are well versed.
Last year Lingenfelter had a drag racing class at C4Fest. Maybe they will do it again and you can check it out. Your best bet though is go to a local test and tune and practice before going to Indy.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.
