Thats what our event is for

I understand when it comes to the car. Mine went the drag route and sometimes I question if I shouldn't of just left it alone so I can drive it more.

This looks so cool. I have always wanted to take one of my cars to a world class track. And now I finally have a car that is worthy.

Been to that track many many times, watched indy cars from ten feet away roll right on top of each other in some of those turns, its a great course. Has about 14 turns in that course if I remember correctly

Ill be in Memphis visiting the Kings home, cant go. Have fun.

^- I need to get with you about a GTR. My cousin down in Arkansas is looking at getting one and he was asking me about them.. I could only give him my bench racing knowledge on them. He was leaning towards a used one and didn't know what all he should look for.

No we do not have timers set up at the event as its not a timed event. If you want to bring your our devices you can though and set them up.

                    Tease,
What kinds of speeds would the Novice group expect to hit? I would imagine someone new to this will be on their brakes more than normal.

As for braking, my concern is that the Camaro uses Dot3 which is not race rated. If you find yourself using your brakes a lot, you may find them getting mushy towards the end of a run. I personally am separating my clutch and brake reservoirs and will be running DOT4 racing brake fluid. I'm doing brakes lines and powder coating my calipers over the winter so I'll knock this out at the same time.

Novice normally runs bout 3:50-5:00 min around the over 4 mile course.....In the main straight depending on the car can be from under 100mph to 180mph.
I would suggest running the DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid and if you can bring extra to the track in case you boil it. Another suggestion if possible bring an extra set or brakes and rotors if you don't have new ones on the car....specially if running the whole weekend. I don't think we had any 5th gens on track with us at our 2011 event in april (cept for the touring), so I don't know how they will hold up. The year the 06 Z06's came out we had all of them in the gravel run off in turn 14 cause the factory brake fluid boiled on all 5 of them and none of them had more then 200 miles on there cars cause they had just picked them up.

i wish i could be more help on that, but I've been avoiding ALL tracks as much as possible this year since my car has been down.....if i'd of gone to them, i'd of wanted my car back which i knew wasn't gonna happen during the summer.

Maybe some of the other folks who have run the road courses with their 5th gens will have more input on this.....specially since someone already mentioned possibly replacing the axles if you start pushing the cars too.

I'm digging the straight speeds.. That'll be fun

I've had a conversation or two with some people about the ins/outs of road course and what to bring.. The brake fluid, rotors, pads and caution were like Deja Vu.. So that was nice..

I don't know who all here has upgraded their axles.. I did because it came with my blower and I was a drag guy with a manual.. I've got some suspension mods I'm looking at hopefully having installed before this event, but at the least I'll have my PFADT sways, end links and brackets installed.

My biggest mod needed with be the driver.
