    Saturday Sept. 17 Meadowdale (Raceway) Car Show

    On Saturday September 17th the Meadowdale International Raceways Preservation Association is sponsoring a Car Show. It should be a pretty nice show.
    For those that don't know about Meadowdale International Raceway, it was a groundbreaking race track in the late fifties and early sixtys. It fell silent for a lot of reasons and now most of the grounds is a forest preserve with most of the original track pavement still in place.
    You can mapquest it and see what is left. Looks like a ghost image.

    It is located on the West side of Carpentersville, about two miles east of Randall Road, on Huntley Road. Here is the link to the web site. I will be going and if anyone is interested, I'll see you there!

        Seems like the cars in the pics are mostly period to the track. Is that so?

          yes kind of unusual that this thing has been sitting in our backyard for over thirty years untouched

          I bet Petes Father would know some more about this place that he could tell us.

            Robert also knows a lot about Meadowdale as well. He has a friend who has a slot car track replica of it.they run a 24 hour race every year that runs concurrent with the 24 hours of LeMans. Robert does not participate in the slot car event but goes over to watch sometimes.

              They try to locate and bring cars that ran there each year for the show, but the car show is open to all. They usually get a pretty large turnout.

              I will be there today. Wish me luck please. The last car show I entered (in Oakwood Hills), the newest car that won was a 1977 vette...
