  • Car dies

So this started 3 weeks ago......my car just dies (as if it were manual) twice in Idle once driving at about 20mph......I made an appt with the dealer for the weekend but i was wondering if anyone has heard about this happening.

UtOH My dealer just asked me if I was having any problems with my car too? They told me that one just came in doing that and the engine service light came on and guess what, the timing chain may have failed/slipped and the entire engine has to be replaced.

The dealer told me if anything like this is happening to call onstar and do a diagnostics check. They did and did not catch anything on the other car either but you can document the issues that way too.

Sounds like a crank or cam sensor. Does it start right back up?

            OUCH!

So I assume you have to still have an Onstar subscription for that diagnostic check, right? Do they email you a copy, or only keep it internally?

usually does start back up, I only had an issue once i had to wait like a min.

I took it to the dealer they said they cant find anything and unless my check engine light goes on they cant help. They did say it might be my after market intake (I cant see how)

They mail it monthly or you can call and they scan it (the scans are kind of worthless)

We are dealing with GM right now about the clutch sticking again. They are going to try to decide what to do by Monday. All I can suggest is to document every problem you have. We are now having something happen at 40mph in 4th gear. I noticied it first then finally Dave did. Something that we can feel in the steering column and we even feel it in the passenger seat. Maybe we will find out something on Monday.

Cam sensor won't throw a code. Put the stock intake on and take it back.

If they can't find it without a code putting the stock intake back on may be able see if it stops it from happening. If it doesn't keep detailed reports as you will need documentation. I have a very small issue that I can't get the dealer to fix because I can't duplicate it at the dealer. The funny thing is that's how I found out about the LT just getting a new engine. It did though a code lights came on and service engine, but dealer even with the service light could not find anything wrong. Two days later the car driving down 88 and just died. no codes called onstar and towed it in and the dealer said the entire engine had to be replaced. I read somewhere that the timing chain was suspect but haven't seen or heard the official ruling......

Just document it and keep it all in order if you have any problems....

Thank you for all your input, I will begin to document. I am actually flying out of town for business so I was thinking of leaving the car for a week but i'm not sure of that would be a good idea.
