  • Going to Speed Inc. ..Need thoughts

Let me start out by saying thank you for reading this thread and to anyone that can offer any thoughts or suggestions for me I truly appreciate it.
Well,my 1SS is going to Speed Inc. in Schaumburg on August 2 (Monday) for headers and a dyno tune. Took some parts down yesterday and dropped them off to be installed on that date. Larry was at lunch at the time so I spoke to someone else and he mentioned it may take up to a couple days to have the Camaro finished up.
Here is my problem. I am legally blind and cannot drive(never have-never will) so my wife is the only driver in the family. We live three and a half hours from Speed so we would end up staying down there while the car is being worked on. So,this whole header/tune thing ends up costing alot more
We are planning on driving down that Sunday afternoon and having the car there by 8:30 AM on that Monday.
My questions for you guys are
Is there any taxis in Schaumburg to get from Speed and back?
A hotel close by that is family friendly that is fairly priced? (have a thirteen year old Daughter and wife that I need to keep happy through all this. And the wife does not share my enthusiasm on this like I do)
Maybe a car rental place as I am sure the wife and daughter wont want to be couped up in a hotel the whole time.
These are the questions I have running through my head so far. Just looking for thoughts/ideas to keep the costs half way reasonable but yet keep the family happy.
    Again,thank you for your time.

I would rent a car from avis or enterprise for the day. I think the cheapest economy car is about $20/day. Also Woodfield Mall is like 10 min. away and I'm sure your ladies would love a day shopping there. I think it's one of the biggest malls in the country. A lot of good restaurants around there too.

Ask Larry at Speed Inc about enterprise. They might have discounted rates set up with them.

          John

sorry I missed you last week

We should be able to turn it around in 1 day if the car is here early as discussed. There are times things come up which can out us off schedule, but not all too often.

          see you soon

I want to take a minute to thank everyone for your PMs and responses to this thread. I really appreciate your help.
I think I will check into the car rental thing and a hotel for the night to give Larry plenty of time to have the car as I do not want him to be rushed with it. Would like it dialed in as perfect as possible.
Again, thank you to everyone for your help and offers
