  • Clear bra

So I've been looking around and it seems its a good idea to get a clear bra...The only think is should I do it myself or have someone do it for me? A family friend of mine said he did it himself and it looks great. I was at the deer field tire show but I had to leave early so I couldn't talk to the clear bra guy. Does anyone have the guys number, or was he affiliated with deer field tire? I'm looking to get a quote for full bumper, and mirrors. (I think thats all I need?)

If you guys have any input on the clear bra (pros/cons) let me know!

I just had it put on my car yesterday. My car is black so EVERYTHING shows. Despite this, the only major thing you can see is the thin line going straight across my hood drawn from the crease of the bumper and fender from one end to the other.

I first tried to have a slant put on the hood to follow the lines of the car but that left me only about an inch and a half of protection. The main catalyst was I got two small rock chips on the hood just above the point at the front in the center where the hood meets the bumper cover after only about a week into owning the car. The other main factor is I'm taking a major road trip to DC. The installer placed small strips behind my wheel wells and the entire front bumper is covered. The only real seam you notice is the hood. I don't mind it.

I just saw a $70K Nissan GTR at the dealer with a clear bra installed the same way as mine and I figure if it's a good idea for that car it's a good idea for mine! The installer custom cut and wrapped mine to hid as many seams/lines as possible.

There are pieced kits out there but I like how mine is cut better. It took the installer about 6hrs to do mine. There is no way I would do this on my own. I had tint and my reflectors/turn signals smoked all at the same time. I believe the bra portion costs around $400.

Well worth it IMO just for the peace of mind. If any part bugs me, my installer will heat it, peel it and redo it for me down the road for minimal cost.

Yeah i was thinking of getting the bumper/mirrors for sure. I don't think I'm going to do the 1/2 hood just because of that line. Also I'm thinking of gettting stealth splash guards so I dont think i will need clear bra by the wheels? Where did you get your done? I'm looking to get it done soon as I dont want any chips in my baby! Thanks for the info!

I can't remember the installer's name but he works on call for Higher Xpectations, a paint shop in Oswego. Call Rick Bento and he'll set it up for you. The main thing I like about the guy is that he will cut the film any way you want and put pieces anywhere you tell him. He did a car for Modern Muscle and wrapped the entire freakin back bumper on that car since the owner didn't want ANY lines to show. That's a lil overkill but at least he cuts it to whatever you want. The installer works for a McGrath dealership and uses the same stuff he installs at the dealer.
