Putting the car away? Wimps. Mine is driven year round. A convertible too. I bought it to drive, not be a garage ornament.

I will be on a be on a different driving tour on November 8, but I am ready for later November and December driving events.

    Driving in Weather

Glad I'm a wimp. My garage ornament is enjoyed on the weekends April thru November.
Makes me enjoy it that much more.
Although getting slid into by someone when you have the top down on a subzero day does sound inviting.

The only damage my car had gotten has been when it was parked in the summer. It was hit twice when I wasn't even in it.

I have an antique car which is driven only during the summer. It stays the same or even goes up in value whether I drive it or not, and only becomes more collectible each year.

But to pay a lot for a new car, and then not drive it, and have it go down in value every year so that in several years you have a mint car worth a small fraction of what you paid for it and barely got to enjoy makes no sense to me. But people can do what they want with their cars.

I never bought my car for an investment. I purchased it as my weekend enjoyment.
If I had to drive it year round I personally would have look into something other than a Camaro with 40 degrees and above tires that I'll be lucky to get 10,000 miles out of.
Most Camaros are pretty decent in all weather but not mine.
I would in no way enjoy driving my car in rain let alone ice and snow.
          You are truly HARD CORE!

Some snow you can drive through, some snow you can't.
Thing is, Snow-one knows which is which!!!

But staying with the thread. Skyfox has 843 miles tonight. It's killing me to know it will pass 1,000 soon! Well .... next summer.

If you are going to drive it, the Pirelli P-Zeros have to go. They are useless on anything other than bone dry pavement. They also went bald way faster than any tires I have ever owned. I have nothing positive to say about them. Actually, I cannot believe Chevy sells the Camaro during winter in snow belt areas with those tires. I'm surprised someone hasn't gotten in an accident and sued them.

I looked at driving something else for winter when I first got the Camaro. But it made no sense to buy something else and pay for it only to have the Camaro sitting in the garage while I paid for it. Plus this way I get to drive the car I like all the time instead of driving something crappy for winter.

As far as driving. You have to know how to drive. Most people don't. I pass 4x4 SUV's in the ditch all the time in winter. Obviously they don't know how to drive or they wouldn't be there. I have a friend that lived in Ohio and Chicago. When he moved to Seattle, they had a "horrible snowstorm". He was the only one that made it in to work. The next day, only a few people showed up. Everyone wanted to know what monster 4x4 he used to drive in. So what was it? A Honda Civic. How deep was the snow? 2 inches. It shut down practically everything.

I have Goodyear F1's and love them year round.
Outstanding on dry, clean pavement and that's all I need them for.

I use all season and all-terrain tires in the winter.

They just happen to be attached to a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Ram 2500.

I also agree that a lot of it has to do with the driver. First hint of snow around here and we see all types of cars in the ditch, from econo cars to Jeep Wranglers

We all use our cars as we see best. I'm not sure if I would have tbe self control to leave my Camaro parked for the winter. But, that's why I have winter tires and wheels to go on the car. Best winter handling car I have ever had. If weather is too bad, the Suburban comes out of the garage instead. But most of the winter driving is just cold and wet. In any case, we all enjoy our cars in our own way!

                              I'm crying laughing at this.
Mine is my daily and I do drive it in the snow. It's not pleasant but I do it. I think only one or two days last year I looked at the roads and said "NOPE" and left my baby in the garage and took my husband's truck. It sucks to drive my baby at a snails pace but I do what I have to.
