"Specialty license plates - promoting everything from nonviolence to Chicago Blackhawks - confuse police because they look different." Really? They confuse police? Seriously? If a license plate style confuses the police we've got bigger things to worry about.
Sorry Josh and any other LEO's on here. Not an attack on you, they just need to come up with a better excuse, IMO.sigpic

Indiana has the same problem. That is alot of lost revenue for both states.'13 Camaro SS/RS Blue Ray Metallic w/silver stripes, Auto, Rear Vision Package w/camera, Embroidered Console, Blade Spoiler, sunroof.

Indiana still has specialty plates like universities, FOP, Children and others but they are not taking anymore personalized plates. Lucky I got mine early in 2013 before they put a freeze on them. As long as I renew mine I can keep it.'13 Camaro SS/RS Blue Ray Metallic w/silver stripes, Auto, Rear Vision Package w/camera, Embroidered Console, Blade Spoiler, sunroof.

What an idiot, no one is going to buy a specialty plate for a small sticker. Big loss in revenue for worthy causes in my opinion. Glad I got in there early enough and picked a specialty class that he wouldn't dare mess with.
What they are not telling you is the problem arose because they started to give the same numbers and names on different types of specialty plates which is springfields fault not the local law enforcement confusion at all. Jesse white was too busy with his tumblers to recognize you need a computer program that does not hand out the same number or name to 2 different specialty classes.

There are no duplicate plates. Every specialty plate ENDS with two specific letters at the far right. (e.g the Chicago Bears plate ends with BD, the Chicago White Sox plate ends with WS, the Route 66 plate ends with SS.)
I think the 'issue' is that multiple vehicles with different specialty plates can have the same base numbers and letters.
For example, you may see a personalized plate with 'GEN 5' but it could be on multiple specialty plates...each with a different last two letters (BD, WS, or SS from examples above).
LEO's and red-light cameras apparently can't always clearly distinguish the last two specialty letters as easily as the base 'GEN 5' letters/numbers (from my example).
That seems to be why the are eliminating specialty plates....because the last two letters are difficult to distinguish.sigpic

Well technically, almost a duplicate, more or less. LOL it's causing them a problem with unpaid tolls with the toll readers yes, cause a friend of ours that copied my plate has a few outstanding and I said Hey that's not me and I can tell you where to find him. LOL They were stupid to allow two plates with the same numbers or letters in the first place. the small letter or number disignation, on the right can't be seen until your right on it, they should have known better ! I find government employees who run divisions are usually completely incompetent to understand their decisions all the way through, but don't get me started.
