  • Garage floor?????

    Hey guys !!

I just bought a new house. Finished painting the garage interior today. My question. I am considering buying some garage floor tiles from RaceDeck or Swisstrax. Has anyone used them?? Have you had any problems??? I had originally thought about doing epoxy for the floor. But I have read a lot of horror stories. Also I have read some bad stories with the tiles. Just wondering if anyone has tried them. Thanks in advance!!

I haven't done either but if you go to Garagejournal.com and search their forum section you can find all kinds of info on different types of flooring for the garage.

I'm in the same boat. New house with a 700 sq. ft. garage. At my previous house I did the DIY epoxy and it was terrible. In the areas where there was tire traffic the paint eventually peeled up. Foot traffic areas I had no problems. I've talked with several friends who have epoxy and they all had theirs done professionally. A few of them still had issues and the floor had to be redone. Seems the ones that are still in good shape used diamond grinders on the floor before applying the paint. I've considered Race deck and weather techs version, but I'm still looking at $3-3.5k. So professionally applied or deck floor is going to run about the same. The advantage I see to the deck floor is being able to replace sections that get damaged.

I read that race deck will send you replacement tiles free. I imagine within reason. I'm only at $1800 for my garage. I still haven't decided yet.

I have epoxy. Don't buy the cheap stuff if you go that route. I have the rustoleum professional grade with a clear coat

I did a Floor Guard floor 12 years ago and it has been fabulous. I think they are from Aurora. Well worth the investment y
