I'm a bit confused by the article, though. The interstate/tollway speed limit is already 70 mph outside of cook and the collar counties, so I assume that it's referring to the chicagoland area... poor article writing.

No. It's more rural areas and it's not 70 now it's 65 in most areas that are REALLY RURAL. but we may be getting 70 in those that are 65 and in some more rural-semi rural areas but don't plan on seeing 70 between Schaumburg and downtown, lol never going to happen.

I88 tollway is 70 once you get out of collar counties, and I39 interstate is 70. So that article isn't clear on the point. We even saw this on our spring Hooters cruise.

Making the Chicagoland tollways 65 MPH would be a big and much needed improvement. That's what needs to be addressed. 55 is just ridiculous.

YEAH REALLY! your misinformed my friend, get in the car and start driving and tell me you can maintain that 70. Most areas dropp to 65 on the signs if their is a seagull crossing. that's just a chart for the federal govt to get their free money for roads, but in actuality it's real different.

I'm not sure what it is you mean. The interstate speed limit is 70, and has been since the 1st of the year. It affects all of the Interstate highways, outside of Cook county and the collar counties, just like I said before. It's not on normal 4 lane highways, etc, just the Interstates.

The vetoed-then-overridden bill is targeting the toll roads in IL as a whole. I suspect that it will be like the current bill where it states "where prudent" etc.

I can confirm that map is not completely accurate. Specifically the little green part on I-94 north of the Waukegan Toll Plaza. From the Wisconsin border to just north of the toll plaza the speed limit is only 65 MPH, not 70. And that's just a few mile stretch. Where the tollway starts (a couple miles before the toll plaza), it drops to 55 MPH.

It's not Toasty's fault, he is just a bit challenged that's all. He believes what his government tells him. give him a few years .hehe
