Was going to visit a friend Saturday. As I was turning off the frontage road onto Torrence Avenue, the car in front of me was 3/4 into their turn, and slammed on their brakes. I ran into the back of them going 5 mph or so. I had no reason to look back to the right because they had already made their turn. There was no one in front of them and no car coming down Torrence for a half a mile. Soooo, I am getting "taken" by these insurance scammers. I saw the people in the car laughing when they thought I wasn't looking, so although I can't prove it, I know exactly what's going on.

This will cost me a fortune as many of my custom parts are damaged. My deductible is $1000 on top of that.

The front suspension is jacked up too.

I think I need to insure the car for the full amount that I have in it, then drive it into the Thornton rock quarry.

Watch out for scammers. If they see you have a nice car, you are a target.

Sorry to hear that Mike, you sure have had some bad luck this year.

Couple of things I think of right off - If they are scammers then they've probably done this before. Inform your insurance company about your suspicions and ask them to look in to it or investigate on your own. Insurance fraud is huge. Also, any chance there are traffic cameras in that area where it could have been recorded?

    Again, sorry....

Should have an attorney check their record and see have many accidents they've been involved in the past year. I'm sure in all of them they weren't at fault.

If you talk to the officer that handled your accident and explain your suspicion, the officer can check to see how often and where the plate on the other car has been checked through the state in the recent past. The officer won't and should not give you the information, though it could help ease your concerns or provide a lead to look into if the officer is inclined. Of course the same car would have to have been used.

This is one of the reasons why I bought a dashcam this year.

Well, after reading this thread, I think I should buy a dashcam. Thanks for posting what happened, sorry it had to happen to you.

No, but the funny thing is, the officer was less than a block away. He told me he heard the crash. When he came over and saw where the lady had "stopped", he didn't issue me a ticket. The fact that I ran into the back of her and didn't receive a ticket speaks volumes about what he thinks may have happened.

I have a $100 dash am and has caught a few good close calls that would have looked like my fault but after seeing a video it would be clear as day it would have been their fault 100%. $100 is cheap insurance
