I have been to the Blue Top about a half dozen times since they re-opened. The place looks great, the cars are cool, but there are issues.
There is a burly bouncer type dude that yells at you if you park in the wrong spot or use the wrong entrance. There are 3 exits and 3 entrances, so it is confusing. Two weeks ago, I was parking right in the front row and he yelled at me and said I could not park there. I asked why. He said those spots were for classic cars only. I asked him about the '86 Vette and the '92 Mustang and he got belligerent. I guess those spots are reserved for the friends of the business?
Another time I saw a lady on a bicycle riding in between the cars. Her handlebars and pedals were an inch or so from the cars. Expensive cars with expensive paint jobs.
But there is a BIGGER problem. EVERY single time I have been there I have witnessed people being harassed and ticketed by the Highland police. Today, I saw a person getting a ticket for going in at the exit. The ENTER and EXIT signs are almost impossible to see from the street, so unless you have been there, you might make a mistake. The reason for the ticket? Well, since it is not a public roadway, but rather private property, I can only assume the ticket is for holding up traffic for a grand total of 5 seconds. The person receiving the ticket waited for a car to pull out first. He did have his turn signal on. Total BS.
I have seen cops hiding on the side streets ALL over there. EVERY side street within a one block radius. Last time I was there I saw a guy get a ticket as he pulled out of the lot. He had somewhat loud pipes and he accelerated after he made his turn, but he was not speeding since he was accelerating from a stop. IF he had been in a regular car, instead of a muscle car, no one would have noticed, and no ticket issued. Basically the police are using this place as a revenue stream. I am done with the Blue Top.
