  • Garage Floor Coating

I'm having some work done on my garage which requires me to empty it out completely. I'm thinking it would be a good opportunity to put down a nice coating on the slab. I'm sure Mz Jiminy, Inferno, and Rosie would appreciate a nice surface to sleep on. Anyone have experience doing this and can recommend a product?

    Thanks,
    FFF

I used Rustoleum (sp?) brand 2 part epoxy garage floor paint in 2009. I prepped the floor as the instructions said. Then put concrete primer down. Then two coats of epoxy paint and a lot of extra paint chips. It has held up really well. The paint chips were a pain for the first year tracking into the house until the loose pieces or those that were sticking up broke off and eventually all got swept up. A shop vac took care of most of it. It worked even better in the basement work shop.

I usually go with a fresh coat of dust topped off with some scattered leaves.

I have done mine with a commercial epoxy and sand product by Floor Guard 11 years ago. Absolutely super. Cleans with little effort. I vacuum it in between washing. It is so clean I can eat off it but I don't want to get it dirty!

Sounds like my garage. I've been meaning to seal the floor for years, but I've got to patch it here and there and then probably clean it with acid. I'd love to seal it, but it'd be a whole thing....

I can't even attempt it because the tree next to the garage has completely destroyed the foundation. There are literally huge section slabs that are raised or depressed from this tree's roots. I love trees...just not next to houses or garages.

                  -ouch- Foundation issues -
Put a plow shovel on front of the Camaro and get that tree outta there!

I used the rustoleum professional (thicker than the normal stuff) topped with their clear coat kit. Bought the kits at Menards. Came out really good and cleans up well

I had mine professionally done about 10 years ago and it still looks great. Another option would be to have the concrete stained as it's very easy to maintain and extremely durable.

Your welcome to come look at it anytime
