  • Going to get my FOID card, any good gun stores you folks favor?

Knowledgeable staff, fair prices, and a reliable weapon. Where do you gun owners go?

Law Weapons and Supply in Naperville. Owner is Robert Bevis, knowledgeable and beats anyone's prices. Sells to a lot of law enforcement.

If you live in cook county rick don't buy from mega sports. They give cook county residents the run around even more so if ur a Chicago resident.
Check out GAT guns in East Dundee or Maxon in des plaines.
Ray Oherrons in downers grove sells primarily to law enforcement but I think they also sell to former military.

I go to Gat guns and Midwest sporting, one is by my office and one is by my house. gat is much larger and has a huge selection of rentals if you want to try something before you buy. Midwest is small but they always take care of me there also and have a policy if you buy it there, they will fix it there lifetime for a nominal charge.
if you want to discuss firearm choice, give one of us a jingle on the phone. If you want to go shooting, give me a jingle, if I have some time , we can do that. if you have a FOID buddy, you can shoot his/her firearm at mostof these places

Can I submit my FOID application electronically or do it or should I just go to a store?

I like J.R. Shooting Sport in Naperville. They have a really nice range. Good prices too.

Any thoughts on Sig Sauer? Ruger used to be my gun of choice when I lived in Arizona but those Sig's seem really cool these days.

sigs are great guns but you pay for the name. my buddy just went to the ATF and they are issued sigs now.

                          SIG Sauer and H&K=$$$
                          Springfield Armory=$$
                          Glock=$
                          Smith and Wesson M&P=$

i like the Glock as i carry it on duty. I also have a couple of Springfields and a sig 226.

I can't say anything about Sigs,

I have a Kimber 1911 Team Match II .45ACP - What a fantastic gun, and holy hell is it accruate - but definitely some $$$$.

I also have my Springfield Armory XD-40 .40S&W with ported barrel. This too is a pretty awesome gun, lot less $$ and alot less to shoot.

I don't mind paying good money for a well made weapon and some of those sigs are pretty sweet. Especially the Navy shooter.
