  • Pfadt Racing is Closing

    Just saw this on facebook.

    Pfadt Race Engineering
It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the closing of Pfadt Race Engineering. Since 2006 we have manufactured the highest quality aftermarket components for Corvette, Camaro, and Cadillac right here in Salt Lake City, Utah. Since the addition of Pfadt power products to our extensive suspension line, sales have increased exponentially, which put us into a perpetual backorder. We have spent the past 4 months meeting with investors and venture capitalists trying to secure financing to push Pfadt to the next level and unfortunately the deals to be made were not in our company’s or employee’s best interest. Without a large investment we do not have the resources to meet the demand, which leaves us with no other option but closing our doors.

We would like to thank all of our employees who put their hearts and minds into this business to make it what it is today. We would like to thank our dealers who expertly installed our parts and helped us build our product line with their professional insight. Finally we would like to thank you, our customers. You helped us build a grassroots performance company in the United States. You pushed us to make bolder and better products year after year. You created the Pfadt Family - and that’s what we will miss the most.

We hope this is a minor speed bump on the long road ahead. Much like GM has experienced in the past, we are also experiencing a setback, but we will reorganize and resurface, faster and more streamlined than ever. We have taken care of all of our customers in this deal - you will receive a tracking number for your product or a full refund - and we are sorry for the delays, time lost and backorders many of you experienced. You were all so patient and understanding as we grew, and once again it’s a tribute to how solid the GM community is. We did everything in our power to take care of you and we appreciate the years you allowed us to be a part of your journey. It’s been an amazing ride.

    Sincerely,

    Aaron Pfadt

That's just crazy. Never heard of a company closing their doors because they were too successful! First Pedders and now Pfadt?

Sounds to me like they are going for restructuring...

            Pfadt Racing is Closing

I have mixed feelings about this. You don't close shop to restructure, you don't close shop because you are selling more than you can produce. I waited 6 months for pfadt to redesign and begin selling their new coil overs. The decision to just stop making and selling their previous product before the new product was close to being ready was asinine. In my opinion Aaron needed to work more on his business skills than engineering. I've voiced this to them as well. Both of my choices for suspension parts over the last 2 years have proven to be bad for longevity. I thought I dodged a bullet selling my Pedders last year after learning they went bust. Now this. I'm in the same boat with an even more expensive set of coil overs. At least Air Ride seems to have their act together business wise.

So what are the choices out there now for our Camaro's concerning coil over setups and suspension parts? What about a 1LE or ZL1 suspension package from GM? Probably not the cheapest option, but they should be around for awhile and servicable. Not that I'm in the market, just curious.

                Pfadt Racing is Closing

KW V3 coilovers are on my car. Love them. KW develops their product on racetracks, on race cars, and then brings it to market... Which brings a far superior product to the marketplace... There are not many other suspension companies that do that. I know Pedders didn't, not sure about Pfadt...

And KW has been around for a long time and aren't going anywhere. They also, unlike Pedders, Pfadt, ridetech, ect. Offer a lifetime warranty on all their coilovers except the Clubsports.
Racing is my life, everything else is just minor details.

Important to note, I think- Pedders AU is still alive and open for business. They closed down their US distributor deal, and should be back again also

RideTech offers a 1,000,001 mile warranty. I'd say that's lifetime. And they test their stuff on the track in the same events most of us run. The owner was at Heidts PCC last May at the Autobahn. I think the Camaro coil overs are list at $2,100. Not too bad.

With all the horror stories coming out about leaking shocks, I would never waste my money on Pedders/BCs again. I sold mine in perfect working order and the buyer just contacted me that they started leaking 9 months later. I only had 2,000 miles on them.

Phadt closing was definitely a blow to the industry. We wish Aaron and his team all the best.

Has anyone tried the Eibach coilovers? They're comperably priced and although we haven't put a set on a Camaro specifically, their products are always high quality ***8211; we run their springs on our Championship winning Camaro race cars and are of course an Eibach dealer.
