Thanks, Tony. Interesting read. Guess I should feel good about my Borla Shorty's. If you're going for maximum performance gain and get Long Tubes, you most likely get High Flow Cats. The way I read this, if you don't want to replace the Cats, go with Shorty Headers to save money.
I've been wondering if I should replace my headers with LT's and HF Cat's to get more HP. For the money though, I'm not sure it's worth the change.
Thanks for the read!sigpic

I have stock manifolds with no cats at all. Got reduce the restrictions as much as possible for a rear mounted turbo setup.

Be careful with HiFlos on FI V8s. There have been many occurrences of substrate damage and full on melting due to the rich mixture and volume of exhaust gasses the 6.2 pushes through them. Maybe a full 3" system would help a little due to more surface area, but I know with my 2.5"s even my HiFlos went back after awhile.. -- Though, they did last awhile and I put them through their pace.. I think Road America is what finally did them in. 20m of hard running 4 times a day over the course of 2 days up and down through the RPMs with several WOT runs over the course of more than just a 1/4 mile with no down time.
Maybe they're better now and I know a company or two was working on some better ones that would last -- Hell, the ZR1 and now the ZL1 are running blowers on a 6.2L through cats -- so, it is possible.
Just be careful with some of the cheaper HiFlos..
Anyways, I had DougThorleys on mine as well and they're significantly cheaper even with their ceramic coatings than many others. Even with my tiny 1 & 3/4" primary I was still putting down 560 tire @ 9 PSI and the one time it was on 11 PSI with my OD cogs it hit up in the 580-590 range -- so, they're certainly capable of putting down big boy power w/o the added cost.
I think they're working on or have already released 5th gen 2" (V8s) -- I don't know what they're providing for V6s though.
Just my 0.02
