  • Fundraiser for my puppy

Well to give everyone a little background on why this was started.

I have an English bulldog that just turned 3 years old this month. We found out about a month ago that she has severe hip dysplasia. That basically means she has no hip sockets.

Due to the pain she was in from this disorder, she ended up tearing both of her crucial ligaments (same as ACL in people) in both her knees.

Long story short a trip to the vet because she was limping turned into finding out that she need 4 surgeries. Each surgery cost a minimum of $4000 each for the the ACL repair, and between $4500-$6000 for each hip surgery.

Then after these surgeries she will need continued medication and therapy for the rest of her life.

My wife, Navil, and I love this dog like a child. We are willing to do everything we can to make sure she can continue on in her life in as little pain as possible.

We had two vets tell us that they are amazed that the dog is able to walk. The amount of pain she has been in her whole life is extreme. She is a brave strong dog, and as long as she is willing to fight so are we.

she had her first surgery on the 26th of february and will be having her second surgery the last week of this month. Then on to the 3rd and 4th.

so we were informed that we could start a fundraiser which we did to possibly attempt in the assistance of coming up with the $16,000-$20,000 needed for these intitial surgeries.

My wife, Bella, and I appreciate anything you are willing to spare, even if it is just spreading the word of the fundraiser.

Thanks for taking the time to read this too.

Do you know if this would be contribution that would be eligible for employer match programs? I searched for 'Give Forward' in our companies list of organizations that they will match against, and couldn't find it. Maybe by a different name?

I just searched mine as well and could not find it. I will reach out to the actual organization and see if they have a different name. That is a good question.

So they just responded and said that it is at the discreation of the employer because this is not an organization specific for any cause. They hold fundraisers for animals, Health expenses, and a bunch of other causes. So they dont get listed.

            Good questions though.

Jeremy, have you thought about contacting the Vet School at Purdue? It might be less expensive. Purdue-West Lafayette is known for Veterinary Medicine. Just a thought.

Our surgeon actually graduated from there and did get a quote and it would have saved us about $500 a surgery for the 2 ACL surgeries, and they wont do the hip surgeries.

So we figured the $500 per surgery wouldnt have been worth it since we would have to drive her all the way there for both surgeries, drive back the next day to pick her up, and take off work for for the extra day of driving.

There are actually very few surgeons that will operate on her hips which is the really sucky part :-/

Just an update for those that have extended a helping hand.

Bella had her surgery number 2 yesterday. So halfway through them. She is doing well so far. she is a fighter! We are going to be putting the other 2 surgeries on hold until we can replenish funds.
