  • 2011 Malibu question

My mom has a 2011 Malibu, when the low fuel comes up on the info center and she fills up the info center still says low fuel even though the gas gauge says there is fuel.

Sensor? Or what you thinking? The dealership wants to see it happen.

Has to be a sensor. There is no reset that I have ever heard of. I have 5 cars in the family, and the idiot light always goes out after you fuel up.

Yeah I have never seen that on any of mine or others cars either. Next time the fuels low im making a service writer or tech go to the gas station with me.

Possibly a sensor, but also possibly the ecm/bcm. Usually the sensor for the gauge needle would also handle the analog low fuel lights, but in the info center, harder to guess. Unless it's using the tank pressure sensor to "read" how much fuel is left. Though that sensor would trip the SES light if out of specs.

Well luckily I told her not to put much in. Last two times she filled up so I wanted to see how it went if she only put a few gallons in. Hopefully she will need gas Friday and I can bring it in.
