  • Broke the wife's car today...

Yep, busted up the Wife's Shelby GT500... Got on it a bit too hard early this morning while the ground and tires were cold, it came around hit the median curb and took out the turn lane sign. If only it had stability assist like the Camaro...

Anyone have a spare couch I can sleep on?

Sorry to hear about that. She will forgive you over time.... That is what insurance is for. Glad you are fine. I'm with Dan... might be a good time to trade up to a Camaro

Thanks all, yeah - she is happy that no one was hurt and there was no one else involved. She had the chance to get into a Camaro after I got mine last year - she is just a Mustang girl and the Shelby has been her dream car. She agrees tho, the Shelby has the potential to get squirly and today I proved that under the right conditions when you ignore the warning signs it will come around and bite you in the ass. I just don't understand why with 500HP out of the box they wouldn't put some form of stability control on it. I'm just too spoiled by my Camaro I guess.

I think I just lost my driving privileges for a while... lol At least until we get hers back. On a good note State Farm rocks!!! Just hope there isn't any mechanical damage or weird drivetrain issues to contend with. Sad thing is I just got my premium reduced this month too! I guess that was short lived. I'll keep ya'll informed as to progress on the repair. Bummer to bang up a car with only 1600 miles on the clock.

Thanks again for the well wishes and condolences - I will share them with the wife.

Wow. That is very unfortunate. Send it over to us. We are a State Farm direct repait facility. We will make sure that it gets fixed the right way.

Aww damn! If I would have known that I would have called you today... I went with Carstar here in Yorkville after talking with the owner of the business directly, my State Farm claim rep, and crying apologetically to my wife.

I'll have more info from the shop early this next week. If something does not work out I will definitely be in touch with you. Only reason I went with Carstar is they are just down the street from me so I can keep an eye on things and stay updated as well as them being a Direct Repair Facility for their repair guarantee. Of course talking with the shop owner directly helps me feel better about this whole process.

I promise you tho, this car will be looked over by an appraiser/inspector before I accept it back into service. #356 of 651 in white/blue out of a total production run of 3004 for the GT500. Add to the fact old man Shelby can pass on anytime, and an out of production body style. Yeah - I cried a bit today.

Speaking of which - anybody have any recommendations for an automotive appraiser?

Thanks Showstopper - If I need anything in the future I'll definitely be calling you!

Oh well. I tried. Just a little to late. Just keep us in mind for the future. I might need that Mustang to test fit some underhood accessories to expand our lineup.

The only appraiser I know of is in Volo. It was a recommendation from State Farm. I was planning on taking my Probe there before it got totaled.
