Agreed that cables are over priced no doubt. However before they changed our discount around I was able to buy many many things cables included. Everyone is welcome over to my house to see the difference between a $2 cable and a $"200" cable. Once again don't agree with pricing but HUUUUGEEE difference. Only if you have a nice tv though... if it's for a basic LCD hell throw a $2 cable on it and you have HD. But having been able to see differences first hand at work all day long as well as my passion for video games at home I have to disagree with the "looks the same theory". Only buy good cables for a good TV don't let salesmen tell you otherwise.K&N Cold Air Intake, Smoked Side Markers, Smoked Taillights, Smoked reverse lights, Blacked out RS badge and Chevy Bowtie emblems, Tinted Windows 20% around, 2 12" Type R Alpine Subwoofers with 1400watt Kicker amp, Blue dyed stitching.

I dunno, when I switched from cheapo $6 Monoprice HDMI cables to Monster HDMI cables, I saw a difference in the picture.
That being said, the real reason I bought the Monster cables is because they were on closeout on Monster's website.
Got a bunch of 8ft 1000THX cables for $14 each.

Mine comes from being an IT guy for a very long time and arguing with someone over the need for a Monster RJ11 cable to hook up to a home xDSL line... I finally just left when it turned to guaranteed speed improvements.. In all the homes and businesses I've run xDSL connections, rarely did I find a place that benefited from that caliber of cable to run simple from the CPE to the wall jack.. People tend to forget that there's wiring in the wall and that the overall signal is limited based on the poorest conduction segment of transmission lines... It's topics like that, that have just steered me away from the general conversations with people about said type of cables... So...
Besides.. If you're already getting the maximum allowed speed based on distance from the CO.. You're not going to get any better.. and if there are issues with EFI/RFI, then those are dealt with as they arise -- if possible... Though, most of the time.. Distance from the CO and things like pair gains, bridge taps and load coils were what I'd see causing issues... and the occasional cat chew toy of a line.
