  • the case of the missing quart

I changed the oil on my car today only to find out that there was only 5 quarts of oil instead of 6 quarts. only driven it 2,000 miles and I don't understand where my mysterious quart went. Either the dealership or something because:

    1. I don't drive it really fast a lot so I don't think its that
    and
    2. ITS ONLY 2,000 MILES!!!!!

can someone explain this to me not a big deal just interested

The V6 eats oil. You need to check your oil frequently. You should also look into a catch can. Your intake manifold is probably got a nice coat of oil in it. There have been a few guys that I know of that blew their engines due to oil loss.

It's also possible that the engine left the factory a bit low. I don't think I've seen any 2011 or 12 motors gone due to no oil, the ones I've seen were 2010's, but never say never. Now that you've done your change, note when you check it, and keep track. If it seems to be loosing oil excessively, take it into the dealer and tell them/show them your findings. They can put a dye in the oil, and will have you drive for x number of miles and come back, and they'll check the oil level, and look for leaks....

Sounds like you better dump that 6 for an 8 before it blows up. A whole quart seems strange after only 2k miles. Monitor it over the next month and see if it repeats.

In all seriousness though. It could of left low like was mentioned. Just monitor it and see what happens.
