I know a lot of the Chicago PD on foot or walking back to their cars give me thumbs up, smile, wave, etc when I'm in the car.. I've had a couple even jokingly tell me to rev up..
Normally, I would prefer LEOs fully ignore me... But, if I am going to get attention, I'd rather it be the "Nice Car!" kind...Comment
