  • Jet engines slow moving trucks and race cars ?

Well if you saw yesterday's accident your probably saying the same thing I said, Not a great idea to have slow moving Jet engine dryer Trucks filled with a full tank of Jet Fuel on the race track while the cars are still coming around the bend. This type of an accident was bound to happen sooner or later. I think they need to change their policy on that for all racing. They were very lucky, could have been a catastrophe. Thank god no one was seriously hurt, pretty hard to believe they were not seriously hurt.

Also hard to believe after all that mess, they still had cars going around with a jet truck out there.

Well, he was at the bottom of the track then the car had a failure. Not like he turned right.

Pure bad timing. One in a million chance of that ever happening again .
Man that really sucks...........but that's the coolest thing I've ever seen

Could have been a very different news report in many different ways. I am glad it was just a sensational explosion and everyone was able to talk about it today.

I bet in the very near future they will have a crash truck following the dryer like IDOT trucks use on the highway.

Other than that, NASCAR has found an even better way to make the most celebrated race of their year, the absolutely most boring waste of time they could. What a disaster.

The pink Mustang commercial was fun to watch.

TMZ was talking about that. "Great idea on having jet fuel with cars going 200 miles per hour. Next there going to make a bomb and glass factory in the middle" -TMZ

                There WAS a follow truck.

There was a CAUTION out, reduced speeds, for the most part. The driver had come out of pit road, after having his car looked at, after reporting vibrations in the car in every gear. He was going around the track to catch back up to the lead lap. Yes he was going at a pretty decent speed, but not 200mph. He was at the bottom of the track, keeping well clear of the track dryer and follow truck, but there was some kind of mechanical failure on the car (could see sparks under the car in one camera shot) Driver could not control the car, and it slid up the track, into the blower truck.

I am sure there will be new rules after this, but to put sole blame on the driver, and not on chace, well... dunno what to say to that.

but man that was some fire!

He was allowed to go over 70 because he was catching up to the rest of the cars. Look how long Nascar has been around and that was the first time anything like that happened. Something definately happened on the passenger side of the car because there were sparks coming from under his car before it went sideways.

Yes it was car failure instead of driver error, that's fairly clear, however, this kind of thing could happen again, I was thinking the same thing, they need trucks like idot uses behind those things if they are going to be out there with traffic. We will probably see some new rule or procedure come out of this.

Indeed, there will likely be a change to how they work them, perhaps a limit to how fast drivers can pass one of the trucks, but there was already one follow truck, might look kinda funny to have 5 follow trucks... LOL

it will look like a typical idot project, LOL five guys standing around and one doing the work.

The accident wasn't anyones fault. It was just plain dumb luck.

Glad it wasn't Danica that ran into the truck or people would have made it a woman thing. I really felt sorry for Danica all weekend. Crashed three times and not one of them were her fault or doing. Welcome to NASCAR Danica! I hope she does well, the sport needs someone else to focus thier attention on other than Dale Jr.
