Dealer Call

Hmm. My dealer (used dept) called asking if I wanted to trade for a 2012 as they would rather get used cars from customers than at auction.

Mine's been mailing the crap out of me.. But, they're never getting this car from me directly.. They suck and I will never do business with them again...

Bubbles, CamaroScotty or Libertyville would be my only 3 I'd look at, at the moment.

I have not gotten anything yet. But I have gotten stuff in the past telling me they are in need of my car and will pay top dollar. Yeah, just a dumb ploy to get you into the dealer.

I hate to say this... But yes it is a ploy to get you in to buy a new car, they really don't "NEED" your car... That's what GM Smartauction and Arena Auto Auction is for.

Ready for a DarkSS rant?? Ok here goes. My shitty dealer (Castle Chevy, never buy a car from them) called me after my car was in for service and asked if I wanted to sell or trade in my car. I said I was looking to sell it out right. The guy said fine and that the owners friend was looking for used 2SS and they couldn't find any. The guy even asked me if I could bring it in that day. It was at Pete's getting demodded so I said I could do it later in the week. He said he would call me later in the week and did. Again asking me to bring the car in and telling me I could get a great deal on a new one. I said no, I want to sell it and he said that was fine he could get me a good amount back. He even knew what I owed and my interest rate. Well I get there and the guy comes out and introduces himself and asks where the car is. I show him, he looks at it and says "Ok looks good" and brings out a salesman. Again asks me what I want to do and I say sell it to them. He says OK and tells the salesman to get my info. The salesman get's all pissed off and starts saying how I'm not buying anything and that's BS and just starts acting like a prick. I tell him what I was told and he goes off to talk the other guy (who was a manager of some sort) then comes back and says "he said were not going to buy your car, we have enough on the lot". I then said "Why the hell would you call me twice to come here so I can waste my time?" I then went to my salesman (who I bought 2 brand new cars from and he promised me the world and never came through) and he tells me he'll look into it and call me back. Never heard a damn thing. It's all bullshit, they just want to sell you a new camaro because they aren't moving this time of year. [/rant]

Not always. My friend is the general manager at a Chevy dealer. We were discussing the used car shortage he was having this past summer. He said his used car inventory has never been lower. So he went out and was soliciting previous customers with late model cars to see if they were interested in trading in for a new car. The reason as he stated, they got most of their used late model cars from rental car companies and expiring lease contracts. Rental car companies are/were starting to keep cars longer so this produced a shortage in their used car pool of newer models.

Oh, and he is the first one to admin car salesman are pricks.

There has been a shortage of used cars ever since the Cash for Clunkers deal. We have been sent postcards about the dealership wanting our Camaro also. They also still call us to see how things are going with the car. I think that is good because our daughter is looking for a new car and will probably go to Phillips also because we had a very good experience there.

I definitely hate Castle Chevy. I've had a bad experience with almost everyone there.
