How much can you negotiate?

I think I am going to go to a few places this week and check out a few Camaro's.

I for some reason never get places to budge on the price.... How do you guys negotiate?

If you could give examples that would be great. Or anyone want to come be my negotiator? lol

I don't really negotiate on price... I'll walk away if it's too high or if there are excessive fees, but I don't try to low ball..

I have talked to CamaroScotty about a month ago now.

One thing im concerned about is getting what I want for the G8 if i cant private sell it. I would hate to drive 130 miles up there to not be able to work a deal then drive all the way back.

Im also contemplating the idea of a co signer. I have sub par credit from being unemployed 2 years ago, which it is going up but im in the double digits for interest on my G8. An uncle of mine is willing to co sign but I want to try it alone before since my credit is higher then it was when i bought the G8. I want 7% or less.

Maybe I will talk to CamaroScotty again.

hey no problem. Thanks for the responses. Yeah it is a tricky situation. I guess I could always get the car alone and refinance with a cosigner after I get it if I decide to.

As for the negotiation part, to me it seems like dealers always give them self that room to negotiate because they know 99% of people are going to come in and offer them a lower price. I normally feel like I got taken if I pay there asking price.

Similar situation, When i started my job 2 years ago, My boss asked what I thought was a reasonable salary. When I answered he said "I think that's fair" I could of kicked myself for not saying more.

I get the VIN and walk in with the invoice, but thats just me.

You can find the invoice by vin? As in what the dealership payed?

i work at a dealership, i can have the invoice pulled by VIN.

and yes, if you know where to look in the sea of letters and numbers the net net net is there.

There's a really nice IOM 2010 that just got unloaded at CarMax..

Depends, I would LOVE a 45th anniversary SS but I dont need it. I've never owned a brand new car before so that would be nice also.

you have to be careful with that... doing that you loose the sales tax savings and sometimes, depending upon the amount, it will cost you in the end.

The one that had many issues? I believe I remember reading a post about that. Funny thing is I saw that car and went OHHHHHH!!!!!! lol

Yes I know that, I'm trying to sell the car privately as I will break even or come a little ahead. If I trade in I will most likely lose a couple thousand. But might even it out with the tax break.
