I've already seen speed camera's around.. I wish I remembered where I saw it, but the signs cleared stated they were present and it was near a light or rail crossing area. They had these before in construction zones on 90/94 South of the loop.

Chicago's Mayor, Police Superintendent Seeks Adding Red-Light Cameras To Schools, Parks.

The Chicago Tribune (10/21, Mack, Ruthhart) reports Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy are in favor a plan that would install red-light cameras near schools and parks. However, the two men differed in how they intend to sell the plan. "While the mayor indicated the cameras are 'all about schools and parks' and not other parts of Chicago, McCarthy said the plan is 'just a start.'" Emanuel made these comments after "Democratic House Speaker Michael Madigan of Chicago filed legislation Wednesday to allow the city to ticket speeders using the cameras. The change is aimed at those driving over the speed limit in so-called safety zones - areas within a quarter-mile of property owned by a park district, school, college or university."

at least it would be limited to Chicago proper, according to the bill introduced, by way off the population limit. That and if you got caught by one of the cams, and did not get pulled over by an officer within 5 minutes, you would get a non-moving violation type of ticket.
